I was playing with a different 007 Agent Under Fire game save hack and while flashing a new BIOS on a version 1.0 Xbox I flashed a 256k BIOS(STUPID I know). Yep it was FRAGing afterwards now you can either fit a mod chip and be done with it or do a 3 wire flash recovery by following the instructions that can be found by working the Google on the interweb. The instructions say 1 wire soldered to ground and the other 2 get soldered to points on the bottom of the mother board(pain in the butt as you now have to remove the PCB again), Me been lazy and not wanting to remove the PCB again found an easy way to do the 3 wire trick. {pic 1} You need a test lead with alligator clips both ends and a pin. {pic 2} Clip the pin in one end and the other on the metal shield(you did leave the metal shield in didn't you)and the point of the pin is gently held on pin 1 and 2 of the TSOP chip. {pic 3} Power on the Xbox and if all goes well your Xbox boots. Remove the pin that's shorting the 2 pins to ground. Now flash the correct 1024k (1 meg) BIOS. If you don't like the idea of shorting the pins on the TSOP IC the points in the pic below show the same points on the top of the PCB and the bottom of the PCB. {pic 4} 1 2 3 4 Inside the box on lower right of pic 4 are the same points as in pic 1 On side note I did try a mod chip and with some BIOS's the Xbox booted but with no video out but the Xbox was still showing on my home network and I was still able to network in to the box. Case solved, I've just completed it 100% and uploaded the savegame files on Gamefaq (awaiting for approval atm)... ... what a pain of a game, lol

well, many days have passed so I just restarted the game. 81% I think I'll upload the savegame myself on gamefaq

Hi, Unfortunately I sold the Xbox and have no pictures of the wiring on the back. I just wired it up to the spec of the PDF suitable for the HD44780 spec even though the OLED doesn't say it's supports it, I just set it to the same bit spec. After that I opened up the spi2par2019 code in the IDE suite and added the OLED initialisation code and changed the existing header instructions and added more code instruction to set the display lines correctly. Then I made a final change to the LCD library in the Arduino suite for the 3rd & 4th lines register as it was different for the OLED. I just did it off-bat so to speak. I percivered until I got the 'Xenium OS 2.3.1' to display nicely centered. Then everythign was perfect. I've noticed others using just SDi like the diagram you posted don't seem to display the xenium os correctly at start. I went with the original HD44780 spec which avoided those issues. Regards.

well firstly i would physically inspect the clock capacitor, on a 1.6 its by the ide connector on the board, its not one of the leaky type but it may be bulging, the 1.6 needs a clock capacitor in place to boot so if you need to replace order a like for like rated cap and then swap them out. even if you do replace it then the xbox will need to be plugged in for it to keep date/time for more than a day or so anyway so not really worth it unless you are leaving it set up and it really bothers you!

Finished building the Xbox with the OLED installed. Managed to go in without an 'overcut' since I had a bit of patience for once and cut inside the lines, then used a file, As promised a few pics (though the camera hated the brightness & blue colour, had to shine lighting on it) Decided to do a Hotachi/LG flashed 8050L pc drive too for it since the dvd was capput as usual. Take ages to get the dvd tray sitting flush perfectly and all 6 case screws in too. Have to modify the dvd drive metal and plastic chassis to do that - a right chore. It's running a nice original 200GB IDE Maxtor that was bought new for an xbox - so not been hammered. Green lan led & blue 5mm hd led - both waterclear flat tops. Cheers all.

Oddworld Stranger's Wrath Personally not a game that held my interest, but meets most of the criteria mentioned. Throwing it out Amped 2 is like an open world but on a mountain side. Hunting down the snowmen to smash was fun.
