Spats
Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself. My names Dean, i currently own 4 og Xbox's 1. Smashed to bits on arrival. Has a larger hdd and coin ops on it. 2. Bought this to attempt a repair to Xbox 1. I swapped the main boards, power supply and hdd over from the smashed Xbox and got it working. This now fails to power up sadly. 3. Bought this to try and repair the xbox from 1 and 2. But now I've found that the main boards are different. The video chip in 3 is a focus one. The video chip in my coin ops associated board is xcalibre. 4. bought this new, years ago, it's a Crystal Xbox. Standard and unmodified. My reason for joining is to find out if my coin ops hdd can be salvaged. Could you guys point me in the right direction if possible to where's best to start a thread up regarding this little pickle? Thanks Dean
Dixie Normous
The hard drive is locked to the motherboard. It will take someone with an eeprom backup of YOUR motherboard. It can't be just any one. They all have a unique key. There is a chance that it can be unlocked with the master password, "TEAMASSEMBLY" or "XBOXSCENE". An eeprom reader MAY work but since the board isn't booting up, the odds aren't good. A physical eeprom chip transplant can be done. Lastly, the hard drive itself could just be dead. Knucklebunker
Honestly it might be easier for you to do a search on coin ops 7 massive or coin ops 8 massive. Otherwise you may have a lot more work ahead of you that might not be worth the effort it will take. http://www.arcadepunks.com/coinops-8-massive-includes-download-links/ Edited July 23, 2017 by Knucklebunker
Spats
Thanks for the input guys. I fear i stumbled upon what happened. I put the hdd and board from the smashed up case into an earlier case. So the main board had one less screw, which meant in due course the metal mounting point shorted out on the board and has fried a transistor. It's swappable but fiddly. So until i grow a pair and have a bash can i load coin ops onto my soft modded box? I will need to use chimp to put a bigger hdd in first obviously Edited July 23, 2017 by Spats
