Dave C.
I want to experiment with XBMC for the Xbox. I have used Kodi on more modern hardware and have a lot of stuff in MP4 format (I am pretty sure that won't work with the Xbox hardware). What is the best format to convert my MP4 to for testing? OGXbox Admin
Go ahead and try it. I think mp4 and mkv work up to a certain version.
OGXbox Admin
There were people supporting xbmc4xbox up until a few years ago.
Dave C.
The interface of XBMC "Kodi" is very old but I am now watching Animal House from a file off of my Movie Server that I built using MP4 files ripped from DVD untouched. Thanks Blake!
KaosEngineer
Hi-def 720p is a bit of a push for the ogXbox. Best if only stereo audio not 5.1 surround. 1080i forget it unless you have added 64MB of RAM (128MB upgrade for v1.0-1.5 ogXbox motherboards). Can't say much else as I don't have the added memory on an Xbox. How well it'll play 1080i, don't have a clue. As 720p was a bit of a problem, can't see, even with more memory, the ogXbox's 733MHz Celeron and 233MHz nVidia NV2A custom GPU playing 1080i. ogXbox FATX filesystem limits the maximum size of individual files on the HDD to 4GBs. Dave C.
I did't spend a ton of time on it but here are the file specs. I ripped the DVD on a Mac. It played great!
