Self
Not really an Xbox mod, but when I do v1.6 softmods a rigged ATX PSU comes in handy to clone your hard drive without having to power it from the Xbox. You can cut off the entire harness and wire up the two wires to a toggle switch rather than having a wire hanging. It also works well to test your LEDs before hooking them up! 3.3v, 5v, and 12v. Anyway. Enjoy!!
Knucklebunker
It's a good idea. I know someone who had to do that because the drive he was cloning to used too much power to run off a molex splitter. I never saw that problem before then but he has a 1.6 and I know their psu are different so maybe that had something to do with it.
Self
I actually have two that I use now. It's much easier than hooking up a splitter each time and also if someone would happen to run into the power issue it'd be a great alternative. I have my main one screwed up to the underside of my PC desk so I can power my E3 Flasher for offboard PS3 NOR flashes and also my Progskeet for PS3 NAND flashes. Have a second one that is strictly for the OG Xboxs.
neonlightning
i was planning on doing basically the same thing for my first clone but i realized i had a molex splitter making things easier.
