  1. Hi, Having modded quite a few Xbox's 'back in the day' I've just come back to one of my old X3 custom front panel one's and am getting some slightly odd behaviour. It was oriiginally all flashed up on the standard 1234 banks and working fine. However, I'm now getting strange errors as sson as I try do boot with the chip on whether I boot normally or into the 256k backup. Although I do seem to be getting different error messages in each case. The bank lights on the front panel (specifically bank 1 &2) seem to be a bit intermittent but not sure if this is the cause of the problem, I've tried switching to the second 1mb bank also to no avail. Finally I'm running it from an HDMI converter at the moment as I'm waiting for a replacement original SD lead, not sure if this would make any difference. I'm a bit stuck as I can't seem to find any reference to the error I'm seeing. Been through all my own documentation and searched extensively online but no dice. Any help would be very very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  2. I am trying to get one of my Xboxen ready for when Insignia drops, and I am having a wierd issue. If I put in a HDD built with OGXbox installer, it works. I can get all the way through to the create a gamertag screen. If I put a hdd that is a clean build, only MS dash files on it (5960), it fails just after "create an accont" screen. "something went wrong.." Same bios, same dash, only difference being one was hand built with fatxplorer. with just the dash files, the other with fatxplorer and "OGXBox Installer 2021 - v1.5.3 beta 2 For FatXplorer + XBoxHDM" files... The only modification I made to the ogxbox files, was adding the ini file for cerbios. Ideas?
  3. I'll do my best to describe the strange issue... I received a dead 1.6 xbox. Wouldn't power on. I changed all the bulging caps that were noticeably damaged. NOT all of them. (Maybe I should) Now the xbox powers on and works flawlessly, HOWEVER, when I power down the console. The console doesn't power back up. But, when I pull the power cord from the back and let it sit for a bit, it can power back on normally. I tried doing a google search and search this site with no luck. Help! Ideas?
  4. Hi, I’ve been trying to fix an Xbox which used to work perfectly. I tried to do the wii to hdmi mod and screwed it up, so put the old av port back on and confirmed all the pins going to where they should go, but it started fragging. I compared it with a working Xbox and found one line across the motherboard giving a strange diode reading of -1.1 or -1.0 when it should be 0.497 (red probe on ground). I’m attaching 2 photos showing a red line where this strange reading is. Any advice would be grateful.
  5. I have a cut-down slim OG xbox that has worked great, but then I changed the paste a while back and it started going kind of weird. The picture output is barely there, it's really really dark with a strong red tint to it, can barely see the menus but it's definitely outputting a picture. Could I have messed up the GPU somehow? Something being shorted? I'd include a picture but you can barely see anything. I'd be sad to ditch this as I put a lot of time into it. Best,
  6. I am getting a message pop up when a game disc is put in that says “this is an Xbox game disc. Please put it in your Xbox to start playing”. (Pic attached). I have the DVD remote receiver installed. If it’s removed I get the you need to connect the DVD playback kit receiver popup. Seems pretty weird to me that it IDs it as a game disc then tells me to put it in the Xbox when it is already in there. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this before?
  7. Hello people of OGxbox.com It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance. I recently picked up this crystal XCM with display, Executer bios chip modded xbox from an electronics receclying center. When I saw it, it caught my eye and it was in being sold as "As-is for parts or repair" because they couldnt figure out how to boot it up. I thought it would be a fun project to get it working again. When i picked it up I had no idea it had a mod chip and I was perplexed by the buttons on the case (and still kind of am). But anyway I figured out how to flash the bios and now have it running XBMC. I found this forum by googling Xbox XCM case to try and find out more about it. I came across this thread. https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/876-xcm-third-party-shells-xbox-custom-mods/ I was intrigued by this line "Finding an XCM shell in worthy condition (Not cracked or Yellowed) is hard to find nowadays and can fetch for a high price." So i did a little more research and found another post on this forum which I am unable to find again of people talking about price tags for these being around 500$ and one user was willing to pay "top dollar" for a red or a crystal one. I thought that was pretty cool that I had something that seems to be rare. But even more interesting is I could only find one picture on the internet of an XCM shell with these buttons and the LCD display. which makes me curious of the value since people are talking about ~500$ for one without the display. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-PAL-Xbox-with-XCM-Red-Crystal-Top-Case-Xblast-230V/402526075343?hash=item5db86c79cf:g:RrgAAOSw6rZfnmmR https://amp.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/comments/b389fb/xcm_aftermarket_shell_value/ So I am curious what is the value and rarity of this style in this condition? Also what exactly are the buttons for on the left? From what i gather they have something to do witht the bios memory banks? Thank you very much.
  8. Hi Everyone, I picked up another XBOX on eBay that was really clean never been opened. It has a strange issue though, if you power on it will take about 1-2 minutes to boot to the dashboard. If you power on and open the disc tray during the start-up animation it will boot straight away. I opened the XBOX and the clock capacitor had leaked so that got removed and 3 more capacitors had popped so they got replaced today. The motherboard has been completely cleaned. The disc drive works fine once powered up and games run no problem. Anyone had this issue? Is the disc drive on its way out? Thanks in advance
  9. So I have a crystal xbox, softmodded with what I believe to be a xecutr2 bios. It plays games from drive and disk. It won't allow me to clone the drive or boot up any hexen disk. After cloning the drive says it is locked in chimp but will not boot, it says error 13 unable to boot dash and Hexen just sits there, I know it takes a while to load have left it for half an hour but just sits with the led flashing red and the screen blank. Any one have any ideas (it does boot a copy of auto installerv1.01). Thanks.
  10. Greetings! I am very new to the OG XBOX (both the console and the forums). I have a 1.4v xbox that I have dusted off recently to install Open Xenium chip. The console was a bit dirty, so I gave it a good cleaning, removed the clock capacitor (which had just started to leak), replaced the fan with a Nexus, and installed the new open Xenium chip. The system seems to be running great and immediately boots into the Xenium OS screen when powered on. The problem: no controller inputs are recognized in any of the controller ports (I've tried with four different working controllers). So basically I boot to Xenium OS, but cannot select any of the menu options. (I should also mention that before the Xenium install, everything had been working fine). Now, when this first happened, naturally my thought was that I had not properly reconnected the ports back to the motherboard, but upon checking they seemed to be well connected (I cleaned the ports and reconnected for good measure). I have looked at the traces on the motherboard and they seem fine. I imagine the chip install went okay since I can boot into Xenium OS(?) Port have been cleaned thoroughly. The only thing I have not tried is swapping the 1&2 ports with the 3&4 ports (in case there is a problem with port #1, and Xenium OS will only recognize input from Port #1???) Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? It seems odd that none of the 4 controller ports are working, and all I am left with is an idle Xenium OS screen on my system. Could it be a single bad solder joint on the Xenium chip?Could it be that Port #1 is busted? Thanks for the help!
  11. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in repair, but since it happened during a TSOP mod I though I'd try here first. Picked up a 1.4 version at a Salvation Army today, green model worked great but filthy inside. Cleaned it up, removed clock capacitor and did the two TSOP points. Reassembled and before I even load into Hexen my video signal has lines going across the screen. After messing around I find that the problem is only with component output (hd output) and standard def av works fine. Thing is, component worked fine before I disassembled so I'm convinced the problem must have been caused by something I did - but all I did was pull the clock cap and do the 2 tsop points... Tried another component cable.. same result. Tried another tv, got a glitched looking display or 'mode not supported'. I'm convinced it's now outputting some garbled attempt at an hd signal that neither of my tvs can process correctly. Have 2 other xboxes and both display hd perfect with the same cables and tvs. I guess I can just sell it with some standard cables but losing the hd kinda kills the awesomeness so I'd really like to fix this if possible. This is like the second weird obscure xbox mystery for me in like a week, sheesh:)
