  1. Trying to rip my DVDs using a 2nd hand BenQ I picked up from eBay and flashed with 0800. XBBC recognizes it and unlocks it successfully but whenever I try to read the disk it crashes after reading ~500kb. No error, it just closes. Anyone can maybe give a few clues? Thanks.
  2. Hello Everyone. I am kind of new/kind of old to the scene, as I have an rev 1.6 Xbox that I bought brand new in 2006, softmodded and installed a 160gb harddrive, which is(was?) limited to 137Gb useable space, copied all my bought games to it, threw in a couple emulators, and then just used it on and off and basically forgot anything involved in the process to the mists of time. Recently it wouldn't power on, so I replaced the common 5 3300uF caps that were leaking, and it was good to go. My brain noted that the 16 year old IDE hard drive will not run forever, and I should look at upgrading to a SATA configuration. Due to the time gap, very old versions of software, I have now read so much conflicting information at this point am not sure what to do in 2021. I no longer have the original drive. I don't appear to have an image of either drive (8gb or 160gb) in any of my backups either. My fuzzy memory says this is bad because of linked keys. I do not have a PATA usb adaptor, or computer with PATA. I have an Xbox to USB adaptor, but I don't think I have a compatible thumb drive. Based on my research I've ordered the "correct" Startech SATA/PATA adaptor. The existing drive already has an 80 pin cable. I do have ftp access without issue. I'm attaching a 2 screenshots of my drive/system info, my questions are: Is that key in the screenshot all I need? If not what is the best way to go about backing up the drive/board key "Just in case" things go bad. And is Chimp (https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/wiki/chimp/) still the best way to clone it to a new drive in 2021? I undoubtedly will have more questions, but backing up is my first priority, and once I have a confirmed backup I will be much more comfortable playing with it, and hopefully updating the various software I have loaded. Any "critical hints" or gotchas would be appreciated as well. v
  3. Hello everyone, Yesterday i was trying to repair my Xbox (wich is a 1.4/1.5, manifactured in 2003), i removed the clock capacitor and everything was fine (i dont care to put the date every time i plug it in) but from point blank it shut down and never came back. when i plug it in it FRAGs and i'm not getting out of this. This is my motherboard : https://imgur.com/a/ZycVKLW i have a modchip installed (not by me, but by someone in the early 2000s), but not a softmod as my xbox read only backups in DVD as far as i know. i made a post on reddit but i had no luck. i tried connecting my HDD to a PC with an adapter and it get recognized by the Devidce Manager but xboxhdm23usb and xplorer360 doesn't seem to detect it and i cant figure out why. i don't care to lose my data, but i just want my xbox back up and running, any suggestion is welcome, but i don't have a EEPROM reader nor a backup and neither a pc with serial port. help me getting this bad boy back to life
  4. I have a backup of my entire softmod/og xbox hdd that i did when i did the softmod on it. It's in a .iso file. It contains everything on it from c,d,f partitions and has the backup of the eeprom in it. My evolutionx dash, skins, few programs like dvdtoxbox. I softmoded it with the sid 5.0 and game exploit, had Evolutionx dash. The hdd i upgraded to 360gb hdd. I must have made the backup before i started burning games to the drive. I have no clue what i did with the original drive, i probably chucked it as i had the backup. How do i take this backup .iso and put it on a new hdd to put in my xbox as there doesn't seem to be any tutorials on doing this specifically? So bit of background; I'm not a noob to softmodding og xbox's, but last time i did a softmod was before the rocky5 method existed. My xbox is stuck on and will only boot to the xbox dash after an error 21. This happened after i accidentally clicked on connect to xbox live on call of duty and it updateed. I read somewhere there are 2 files you need to delete once a game is copied to hd in order to prevent this, but i can't remember what they are? Any help there would be good to. I cannot ftp into the hdd anymore as ftp won't find the console. Also i tried burning the Hexen2018 to disk, but that won't boot, and have since learned you need softmod dash for it to boot so no luck there. Next i tried xboxhdm23usb beta3 as i have a few spare external 2.5 dives in external enclosures. Only thing i did here was put the eeprom in root folder and tried basic build as is first to see if it will work. But again no luck. It finds the hdd's, but keeps coming up with -h and -d errors when i choose option 5 or xboxhd program. Can anyone help?
  5. Hi, I'm trying to help out a long-distance friend to get their untouched xbox working again. Absolutely no reaction to power on, probably faulty power board, power cable, or maybe the clock capacitor problem. As the xbox is untouched, there's no backup of the HDD and save files are important for nostalgic reasons as well as the ability to replace the HDD in case of failure. The most efficient way is a softmod and backup of eeprom.bin and copying the save files. To get there, you have to go through quite some steps to softmod and access your xbox through FTP. (Doable, probably even easier than what I'm trying to suggest) If modding is not going to happen any time soon, I was wondering if it's possible to make a clone of the HDD by using GhostImage or some other imaging tool to backup the enitre HDD. Would rewriting this image to a new HDD (possibly bigger) make the new HDD work directly as intended? I don't think his PC can host IDE drives anyway, but I was just wondering if this would work.
  6. Hi! Is there an app for windows that allows extracting multiple ISO redumps for og Xbox? Note that I mean ISO, not xiso, regular extracting apps doesn't work bc those ISO files have more than one layer. I've only managed to extract single file at once, I have a lot of those redumps and it takes a lot of time to extract them.
  7. I am attempting to play my Greg Hastings backup from my storage and am getting a black screen. I understand there is a fix for this, but am unable to locate it. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction? TIA!
  8. Hi - I would like to backup some of my original disks as some are scratched - I know about dumping them to Hard Drive using dvd2xbox. I'm just wondering how I can make physical disk copies of my games? Would this method work? 1. Dump game to xbox using dvd2xbox 2. FTP game files to PC 3 Use some kind of ISO creator - suggestions needed here 4. Burn to disk using imgburn Would this method work? Thanks
  9. Hi guys I have a softmodded xbox and would like to create a backup hard drive in case the softmodded drive in the console takes a dump! I know that the xbox hard drive is nulled! I also ftp'd the E:\ folder wich contains the eeprom.bin file to my pc for backup. Can I just ftp all the folders in the xbox hard drive to my pc to create a backup of entire drive? (I use filzilla to ftp files)
