  1. Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with an original xbox that will turn on, with a solid green light for a second, then turn itself off. Then back on with an orange blinking light, then turn itself off and on again until finally staying on with a blinking orange light with it's fan running what I think is full power (haven't confirmed this). I can open the disc tray when in this state, but I can't power the xbox off unless I unplug the power from the back. I opened up the xbox. I believe it's a v1.2 motherboard. It was in pretty good condition I thought considering the original owner said it sat in a closet for the past decade or so. This xbox was not modded. I read that an orange blinking light could mean the xbox was overheating, which would explain the high fan speed. So I removed the old thermal paste, and added new thermal paste, put it back together, plugged it in, and the same issue is happening. I have tried a brand new A/V cable and power cord that I bought on amazon and that didn't seem to make a difference. Does anyone know what an orange blinking light and this sequence of powering on and off mean? I can't find good documentation on it anywhere. I'm also looking to try anything else at this point if you have any recommendations. Here is a link to a video of the symptoms described above and some pictures of the montherboard. Thanks for any help in advance! https://imgur.com/a/7hMZWFn?
  2. I'm currently in the process of helping a friend finalize his emustation build. He has loaded his game as F/games/#-n G/games/M-Z I watched over video call as he ran the scanner. Upon completion of the scan he only had around 540 titles available.(#-n) On said video call I had him poke around so we could determine the issue. For some reason his file structure was changed on G partition. To G/games/"Xbox title"/"Xbox title"/.CCI default.xbe Subfoldering all of his game on G. When looking at G partition on Fatxploer everything looks as it should. No subfolders. G/games/"Xbox title"/.CCI, default.xbe I just wonder if anyone else has experienced this and what their solution was.
  3. I have look over the forum and can't find my answers. Does anyone know if there is a way to structure Xbox games in lettered folders IE (#-G, H-Q, R-Z) Or something to that effect. Or even separated by each letter would be great. I have a CCI collection ready to go just thought it might make navigating a bit cleaner. Thank in advance everybody.
  4. Pulled the xboxes out of the closet and having some "fun" reviving them. Looking forward to all ya'll's help.
  5. OK I have the Aladdin chip installed and everything boots up fine but it still boots to the original Xbox screen what do I need to do now that I have the chip installed
  6. Hi All, Thank you for creating a fine forum. I had the original xbox when it was new-ish, but I traded it and all my games to gamestop for 2 360 games. bum deal. Anyway, I have an xbox again along with many other consoles from my youth. The hdd sounds like it's from a 20 year old computer(which it kind of is) and the optical drive is on its way out. I'm glad to find these are taken care with relatively painless software type mods on the Xbox. I did the Rocky5 softmod and then I did the hexen disc to EvoX 8+, but I'm having two issues that don't seem common. 1. after the tsop flash, the .wav sound files have disappeared I can't seem to add them back with the hexen disc or the Rocky5 extras disc. 2. I'm having issues with ftp programs not liking the directory structure and I can't drill down or transfer, only just connect I have a 1.0 xbox and I flashed the 256kb version of evox. Can I redo all of this with a bigger version and just start over? I'm not sure what went wrong or which forum that can help with this.
  7. Hello everyone. I'm new here but not new to hard and soft modding. A bit about my collection...I have 4 ps2....3 soft mod with hdds....1 hard mod with chip. I also have a RGH 360 slim w chip and an old 360 flashed disk drive and a stock 360 slim. Also 2 soft mod wii and 3 ps3. 1 original with ps2 chip and backwards compatible. 1 slim that replaced that design and also a super slim. NOW to my oxbox... 1 with xbit mod chip. I bought a used oxbox and it had it installed already....I know that they are not the best but oh well it was $50 and came with everything and one of the 2 controllers was Duke and it had lots of other goodies like hdmi pound cable and internal hdd with games. For just $50, it seemed WAY worth it lol. Also have 1 oxbox that is soft mod and 1 that is stock. Ok, I'm thinking of adding in 2tb hard drives. They only have 250gb drives in each now. I basically just wanted to join this site to find others still enjoying and modding their oxbox and also for information and resources about doing that. I thought about making my own Xbox xtender but I read the post about it here and it seems the concensus is they are not needed. 2tb hard drive would be enough. Which is great! I look forward to using this site and meeting like minded people who still enjoy tinkering with their retro gaming consoles. Thank you!
  8. Hi there! My xbox was modded when I was still a kid and has been resting in peace since around 2010. Now that I've been doing a lot more technical stuff I want to dive back in and found this forum through reddit. I love that you have all this stuff gathered here as I wouldn't know where to begin if it weren't for you. Kind regards, Tadsz Edit: I was looking to grab some downloads but it says I'm not permitted. Are there some rules to this? Where can I find these?
  9. for some reason goodwill keeps on putting this on and off the market but this time i think its here to stay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-XBOX-Orange-Translucent-Halo-Special-Edition-Console-P-R/401765628862?hash=item5d8b18fbbe:g:V8sAAOSwlLdco4TN&frcectupt=true
  10. Hi everyone, I just introduced myself in the "new members" section. And now I have a bunch of questions covering different topics. I have a softmodded XBOX that I modded like ten years ago. I do not remember what softmod, what exploit, did I tsop-flash...? My setup is as follows: XBOX 1.2-1.5, 2.5"Sata-hdd, laptop-dvd-drive, VGA-connector on the back with a DIP-switch to choose vga-video-mode (so obviously i did a tsop-flash?), and usb-connectors on port 3 and 4. Everything is running again after some major issues. The box is booting to xbmc 3.0 and I can watch movies and play games from HDD (I can not find my game-dvds). But since I can not remember what softmod is installed, or what bios is flashed I want to start over. I only want to keep my games from the HDD. My plans are as follows: backup games via FTP, backup eeprom, install a new softmod, NULL the hdd-code, ( I may want to upgrade the 160GB hdd at some point), rebuild the HDD from scratch, install the latest XBMC is this the best order? what are the best methods for doing so? what software do I need (Tool-DVDs ?)
  11. Been 10 years. Have my broken xbox with Xecuter 1 in it and a "New" one coming..my drive on the original box should be good..Can I swap and play?
  12. Hey everyone, just recently got back into console modding after not touching a console in 10 years. Back then I primarily messed with 360's for my friends and anyone willing to pay me. Now I am more interested in building for myself to have "The Ultimate System". Excited about learning how the scene has developed over the years and finding this community. I assume like most here, I am a gamer. I can't seem to stop playing EverQuest 2 (13 years) and I play various shooters and single player "play through" games. In time I am sure I will have loads of questions and will look for feedback on ideas. Thus far I have 3 OG Xboxs and have TSOP'd one of them but havent really done much else. Glad to be here. Happy Modding!
