  2. XBox 1.2 - 1.5 Christmas Lights

The dreaded lights have finally arrived. I recieved my xbox second hand and it was already modded. I'm sure there's guide to this somewhere but I haven't seen it. Any ideas to the common causes and checks I should run? I've already started to take it apart and can't see anything terribly wrong, but I'm no expert...
  3. Hi all, Long time modder and lurker, first time poster but I wanted to share a project I have been working on the last couple months. It is a small PCB which allows you to use Wireless Xbox 360 controllers (via the Xbox 360 USB Wireless Receiver) on an OG Xbox console. The design is loosely based on another similar project I did for the Nintendo 64 console https://imgur.com/gallery/HVLea3d Following the release of this board another forum user sent me an email asking if this device could be adapted for the OG Xbox, and funnily enough that was the next thing I was going to attempt! I wanted to support the following features atleast: Up to four players with rumble support. 100% USB Bus Powered so no external power supply needed. Fast bootup time, so it's up and running in time for the OG Xbox. Low input lag. As always, this is a hard thing to measure, however I can say that an OG Xbox controller is polled by the console every 4ms or so. My software gathers all the Xbox 360 wireless controller data, collates it and generates all the HID reports every 4 ms aswell. It's possible an input may miss this 4ms window, so would happen in the next 4ms window. As you probably know, an OG Xbox controller is basically a USB HID device, however it has some custom requests and other slight differences, meaning that it doesn't work on a Windows machine without a custom driver, and conversely a generic HID controller will not work in an OG Xbox so there was some work in getting a reliable and compatible solution working. To support four controllers, it is necessary to have 4x Full USB device controllers. However I imagine most people would rarely play with 4 people at once so my design is modular meaning you can support anywhere from one up to 4 players as required to keep cost down. This is a link to the github repo with what I came up with https://github.com/Ryzee119/ogx360 A link to my etsy store where you can buy one pre-assembled https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/672315615/ogx360-add-wireless-xbox-360-controller Cheers!
  4. Hiya, I have been lucky enough to pick up a Xbox with a X3 chip. Planning to add a 2TB HDD and LCD screen. If anyone can point me to any good tutorials that would be great. Thanks
  5. So I've had a modded Xbox original for a few years now, and I just got around to using it again. Thanks to this forum it's running much stronger. Upgraded to the Startech SATA adapter, changed to an 80wire IDE cable (not pictured) and then moved over to a TSOP flash instead of a softmod.
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UBf0iuQA1g Grab XDSL 7.0 here: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=566&sid=219102806e3e01a7ce84724c64a77321 Once inside XDSL go to "mydsl" and then inside "System" install Wine. Now go into the systems panel and go to sound, click yes to deactivate whatever is running, this will make sound work, it seems it doesn't work by default. open firefox and download https://archive.org/details/GrimFandangoDemo go into the file manager, rename .exe to zip and unpack, right click on grim demo exe and pick run with wine. Simple as pie, most games will not run using this wine method cause the wine in Xdsl is ancient and there doesn't seem to be any 3d acceleration in wine (maybe somebody can port the latest wine to xdsl?) so grim runs i think in some sort of 3d software mode, but it's full speed. You will need to solder usb ports to your fourth joystick port to use a keyboard/mouse to play grim fandango (thats what I did aeon ago) or buy a joystick2keyboardmouse adapter.
  7. Sooooo i have a MAJOR issue. I had softmodded my Xbox and accidentally unlocked the HDD now it's somewhat useless.. (User: ecstone ) provided me with some info about building a EEPROM reader, but finding each individual parts to build it is gonna take some time and there is none on sale online... I was wondering if I can just purchase a modchip and just install Hexen to a brand new HDD (500Gb) or will i still have my Error 5 code to deal with????
  8. How to install XDSL from a disc. Link in the description of the video. Enjoy!
  9. As the title says, I have an Xbox with an incredibly annoying buzz/hum problem. The buzz comes from the speakers of the TV, not the Xbox itself. And only occurs when using the component cables. When using composite cables, the audio is perfectly fine. Haven't tried SCART as I do not have the cable. I'm pretty sure this issue wasn't an issue just a few months ago. I've tried using different power cables, different power sockets (in case of grounding issue)... I think SOMETIMES it depends on what game is being played whether the buzz appears. My Xbox is softmodded, with the only physical mod being a new SATA HDD using an HDD to SATA adapter. Is this a possible cause? The only other thing I can see are three capacitors that LOOK like they are bulging, but no leaking yet. The three caps in question are right below the CPU heatsink, labelled C3E2, C2E5 and C1E1.. I've attached a photo to show the caps. The photo isn't mine, I found it on Google images but it's identical to mine., Are these caps related to audio, or are they related to something else like power? So the question is... does anyone out there have any ideas as to the cause of a buzzing noise with component cables that probably wasn't there a few months ago?

hey everyone thanks to a bunch of people in discord, i managed to wire a wii2hdmi adapter to the xbox for hdmi and audio, works great and there is a difference between it and composite, i dont have a good way to screenshot it, i tried doing a live stream on twitch but was having connection problems so it does not look to good, however if you want you can check the videos here https://www.twitch.tv/ironsniper1/videos and here is the diagrams, the one with the top of the xbox av port is if you completely desoldered the av port and are replacing the av port with the adapter and the bottom is if you are leaving the av port and just soldering in some wires to the port and adapter

  13. I dont know if this has been put up on here before, but i came across this during my quest to fix a v1.2 xbox that wont boot. I have at some point managed to bork the hard drive during this quest Any how this webpage shows how to read an eeprom from an xbox using a Pi and a pin header normally used for mounting modchips in an xbox.. I have installed the program on my pi and got everything ready, just waiting for my header wires to arrive and then im goin to give it a go. My thinking is if i can read the xeeprom i can then use xboxhdm2.3usb to rebuild the hard drive and install a softmod. Then hopefully this bastard will boot again Heres the link .... http://icode4.coffee/?p=22

  18. Frag? V1.0 XBox

Hey all! I’ve got a couple Xboxes in the office I’m trying to renovate and maybe get back up and running. They seem to be in pretty terrible shape. This post is primarily about my 1.0, but I also have a 1.1 that boots up three times and instead of standard red/green, it flashes orange and does not power off with the power button. Clock cap leaked, too. A lot. I replaced a few capacitors nearby as they looked bad too but same deal. I cleaned the board three or four times with rubbing alcohol, it looks pristine - can’t find any bad traces. I haven’t looked at the P/E board yet; could this be an issue? Anyway, main part of my post: i have a 1.0 Xbox that seems like it’s FRAG’ing but not quite. It turns on - no video - and after a bit, the front LED flashes green. After a bit of this it goes to red/green, still no video. I haven’t cleaned this one yet, but I have taken a look at the board and can’t find any super obvious problems. Clock cap does look to have leaked a little bit, but a quick cleaning and removal did nothing to fix it. One of the vias nearby looks as if it may be burnt. I’ve attached photos of the entire board here, I hope someone knows or spots something here I wasn’t able to. These boxes deserve good homes!!! Quick edit: this box has never been modded, not was it even opened before I started trying to fix this issue, warranty stickers and all. From the writing on top it looks like she gave out on the previous user and made its way from their garage sale to me.

  22. XBoX Hdd Replacement Issue

Buddy sent me two OG consoles I had modded for him way back in the day. Both are TSOP flashed. Both had leaky battery clock caps, so they were removed and the boards were cleaned up. Both are running Avalaunch. XBOX #1 is a 1.1 with 1MB TSOP so I went ahead and flashed X2 5035 to it(had 4983,06 prior). No issues with this box, made copy of 160GB hdd, swapped IDE HDD for SATA SSD with adapter, formatted disks, copied files back over, updated apps etc. It boots without any issues and behaves normally. XBOX #2 is a 1.4. It has 4983.06 flashed and has a 250GB IDE drive installed. When I got the box it was fragging so I booted EVOX CD and it appeared that the dashboard xbe was gone. Copied it over again via FTP and it booted fine. Everything seemed to be working(games/apps). Tried to make a backup via Avalaunch FTP and after a few files ava would freeze up. Loaded evox and was able to copy files without any issues. Installed 250GB SSD in this xbox, boot my installer disk and format the partitions. Seems to go ok but the partitions still read 0bytes. Boot again off evox installer disk, it shows all partitions as 0bytes but after about 10-20 seconds they start to populate with size. I am able to FTP files to them once they show up. Reboot, still fragging. Ok, so after all of that BS, I bought another box off eBay. It comes softmodded with 160GB drive. Manage to get it TSOP flashed as well and remove the battery capacitor. Try to install several other hard drives, format, and install, see the same exact issue with the pausing and fragging on boot. Install original drive on either of these two and they work fine. I assume this is hardware, more than likely from the leaking capacitors. I plan on pulling the boards and touching up the solder on all of the components that had electrolyte on them as well as doing another inspection, but not sure if anyone has seen this and found a fix.
  23. Dear All, Has any of you has a collection of original xbox games fixes, like enabling widescreen and so on, like for instance the website underneath has some fixes to apply for hex editors, tried doing it on Auto Modellista and it didn't work something I did wrong, is there anywhere someone you had already applied these fixes and packed all together? http://ps2wide.net/xbox.html Thanks
