About Me

  1. Hello people. managed to pick up a very very cheap xbox. only paid a 10 quid for it but its mint. only thing it switches on automatically when its plugged in. i did check for traces and 1 is gone but i will jump these when my wires come. clock cap his been desoldered but 3 power caps are gone which ive ordered and will change was going through some old stuff and managed to find my xecuter v26 CE. i had this for years and luckly i still kept it. replaced this with X3 so i kept the old 1 now my questions. will this work on my 1.4 will it need reflashing as i cant even remember what bios was on it (been so many years) i have all the wiring, fresh as in never been installed. does any 1 have a guide on how to install. i think 3 wires just need soldering. as my X3 was a solderless install and of course if i do need a reflash, can any 1 suggest a good bios CHEERS GUYS. MUCH APPRCIATED
  2. HI. I have this: I bought this Xbox on Ebay for over 1k and it turns on by itself overnight & won't turn off. In the past it would take idk, 30 tries before it finally turned off. Now, the power button itself is not working and I'm on about idk, 70 try's on hitting "power off" from the dashboard. The only solution is to unplug it but I don't like that I have to plug it in every time. I would like to swap cases with another Xbox (preferably NOT modded) but have no experience in opening up an Xbox and I'm not up for the challenge. I'd rather ship it out to one of you to have this done or just buy another one when it comes up on Ebay. I'm not looking for a repair as I don't trust it & might I add: it had a full recap of all capacitors. If any of you have an original Xbox and know how to swap cases, perhaps I could pay you if I shipped it out to you (I live in NJ). Thoughts/suggestions?
  3. Hello everyone! I will tell you about my problem: I have an Xbox 1.0 with TSOP and 128Mb of RAM (I bought it pre-modified), I have tried to install an Aladdin Xblast by soldering the pinheaders to the LPC port and soldering point D0 of the motherboard to D0 of the chip (I have also tried soldering D0 from motherboard to ground on motherboard) and got FRAG. I have followed Barnito's Lpc Diagnostics (V0.1) guide (https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/239-lpc-diagnostics-v01/#comment-945) to verify voltages and continuity. With respect to continuity everything is correct except pin 2 and with respect to voltages everything is correct (+-10% of the correct voltage) except pin 1 0V and pin 5 1.7V. If I disconnect the D0 cable from the chip or ground, or if I disconnect the Aladdin chip, the console boots correctly with the Cerbios bios that I flashed in the TSOP and boots my Xbmc4gamers. What could be the problem? (if photos are necessary, I'll take them later when I get home from work)
  4. I am mostly making this post to see what the best option is for me to enjoy my xbox for a much longer time. Like if my problem is the disc reader, but there are other options to get around even using it in the first place, I'm very open to it. I got a used Xbox a while ago but over the past few months I've been having to reboot games just to play them, and now it's to the point where the console can't even read them. The disc looks fine, but obviously it could not be fine. However, I think it's the drive itself. I've thought about just replacing the disc reader so I can use my games again, but recently I've been looking at mods and I'm curious about a few things. I think it's best for me to show my desires and then get a suggestion on what to do. I am willing to pay any price to keep enjoying the games I love, so cost is a non-issue. But I don't know much about what a modded Xbox is capable of. There's so much info on here, it's hard to digest. All I want is to play Corvette Racing and Sonic Mega Collection Plus. That is my only desire. Is there an Xbox mod where I can avoid using the disc reader and have the games on an SSD or hard drive? How can I verify that the disc reader is the problem, and it's not my discs? I have like ten games and they all give me the same error when I put them in, so I am leaning towards that the Xbox itself may be the issue. It would be cool to easily get more games or just use the discs to download them to whatever storage thing I have on the console. Then I can easily change games without having to get up and put in a new disc and I don't have to rely on a disc reader or having a scratched disc. Is this a thing or am I crazy?
  5. Hey all, first post as I stumbled across this page while trying to research my halo edition xbox. I pulled it out of storage and wanted to sell it as I havent used it in forever and am fairly out of the video game collecting these days. Memory is pretty fuzzy on this as it's been awhile, but I bought this new when it came out, used it a good amount and then ended up putting the Xenium Ice modchip in with the solderless adapter. It's been in a closet for at least the past 10 years. I believe the hard drive and disc drive are original, almost positive I never replaced those. I hooked it all up and tested it, works great, the only game I had laying in the closet with it was Sneak King, so I tossed that in to confirm the drive still worked, no issues. The case looks great, no cracks. It is missing one of the rubber feet. Controller, power and video cables are the original ones that came with it. I'd like to get $300 + shipping for it, but am open to offers. Pics attached and happy to take others if anyone needs.
  6. Hi, i´m Stef from Germany and recently got my hands on a apperantly "half"- working Classic XBOX for free, MFD 2005. Since almost nothing was included (no AVIF Adapter, Cables of the Controllers were cut and are not available), I removed the AVIF-Socket and tried to get at least a Composite output on Pins 21&23 by bridging Pins 11&12 in order to select Mode 2 (both seen from the underside of the PCB). I have no signals on any Video Output Pin except for Scart Blanking. The Box starts up, LED turns solid green, Powerbutton opens the DVD tray, box turns automatically off after some time of inactivity. Before i made the 11&12-Bridge to select the mode, the Box started to Flash Green/Red after some time, so at least it recognizes the Mode settings and acts accordingly. Likewise it could be a fried BIOS, but i have some electronics experience (small analog Oscilloscope in 10 MHz Range, a 8 Channel Logic Analyzer and Fluke MM is available) and i´d like to check the Signal Flow / In-out of the - i assume - Video Converter Chip straight below of the AVIF-Plug. Is there any pinout description for this specific IC available or any additional documentation regarding signalling on the board available? Caps seem to be ok, Voltages are in their specific range. Fiddling around with heat in order to detect a loose IC connection or pressing on the board on some areas doesnt´t change anything. Thank you very much! Best regards Stef
  7. Guys, anyone with experience in C programming? I need someone's help to compile a project of an image converter to .XTF for HL2 Xbox and I have everything you need thanks to a friend from the XeNTax forum and he wrote to me, but I need this to be compiled together with some more information contained in other files.... Someone to compile all the codes for me? In this case it would be in python or C xtf.bt imageformat.h vtf.h itexture.h
  8. Hello! I decided to open up my softmodded Xbox made in july 2002. It has partially stopped working around 2008 and I remember replacing the hard disk did not help it back then. I dont remember the exact symptoms it had, but I remember considering it broken so I bought another one for cheap and stored this one for 15 years. So I wanted to give a try of repairing it today after learning about the clock capacitor problems, considering the fact that the console is still very clean globally and even have the OG box. When I first tried to turn it on, I had nearly no image showing on the screen, except a very dimmed and freezed green circle in the middle. I turned it back on and everything seemed fine, I was able to play a game with no problem for 5 minutes before deciding to turn it off and open it to have a look. Here is all the photos I took. The clock capacitor obviously leaked, but I can't quite tell how far the acid went as the whole board seem covered in dust. I plan on cleaning the surrounds with vinegar and then with IPA, but I don't know a lot about electronics so I wonder if there was anything you would do or avoid to do in this case. Also, can the softmod mess up something or has it likely absolutely nothing to do with potential failures? I must have played the console 1 or 2 years with the softmod without problems before it broke. Thank you all for your precious help!
  9. I got a xbox og with no hard drive can I fix it?

  12. Hello. Does anyone know where to go to get XBOX Save Games (UDATA/TDATA) other than GameFaqs? Note: These are SAVED GAMES for Original XBOX. I’m primarily looking for Racing Games so I can unlock all cars, courses, tracks, etc. Ideally, they would be NTSC version of games. These two sites have a lot of Saves Games but I am wondering if anyone has a collection or another site they can refer? Thanks! https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/xbox/category/999-all https://legacy.downloads.diomtec.com/homebrew/warchives/xbox-saves/
  13. Hello everyone, Sorry if this is in the wrong place but as the title says, I'm relatively new to the OG Xbox, it's an awesome console but seems to be pretty complex as well. I have a softmodded 1.6 Xbox. The first issue/question I have is when I turn the console on, it boots in 4:3 and SD even though it's connected with a Chimeric HDMI adapter, also in some guys like 007 Nightfire, it's pretty blurry almost like it's running in SD, is this an issue with 1.6 Xboxes? If that is an issue with 1.6 consoles, whether it's because of the Xcaliber encoder or whatever, what is the best revision to use on HDTV's with HDMI adapters like the Chimeric one or the Xedusa? Thanks to anyone who can help!
  14. When I was looking for a extra gamepad, I came across a "duke" gamepad including a whole Xbox for 10 bucks, I couldn't resist not taking it Everything works, but inside the Xbox it looks like it has a 1.0 board. I've read things about the Foxlink PSU in 1.0 units... and this one has the Foxlink The pins on the AC connector are slightly movable and the solder is cracked, but working. After taking the picture I resoldered it. Is resoldering the only fix for it to prevent melting away some day? Second thing is the fan on the GPU heatsink which makes noise the first minute it's tuned on. The same noise PC fans make when they are worn. But with a PC fan I can remove the label to reveal the bearing and put a drop of oil in it, letting it run quietly again for a couple more years. But removing the label on this GPU fan doesn't reveal the bearing. Is this fan repairable in a different way?
  15. So as you may know i've already designed 2 different xbox mini cases and I'm also working on a full replacement case. This design sits in between these two, it loses the DVD rom and uses a 2.5" HDD/SSD instead of the full sized HDD. It also keeps the original PSU. The lid incorporates ducting to guide air over the heatsinks and also holds the HDD/SSD. Sttill a work in progress but heres a quick look so far:
  16. Hello all! I use to be really into the mods back in the days. I shared a lot of hardware info and came up with a easy to build Eprom reader to get the Hdd KEYS out of the bios chip storage. I recently pulled out 4 Xboxes that I had squirreled away for future projects, I saw this on a YouTube video and thought, wow people are still into modding the old Xbox! Good to meet all of you!
  17. i tend to leave this xbox on a lot lately for days without a power cycle. it has this annoying problem where it will randomly be frozen on the homescreen when i want to use it and i have to get up and power cycle it. it comes back on fine and doesn't have any issue until the next time it freezes. there seems to be no ryhme or reason to when or why it freezes. what could be causing it? it has the open xenuim chip and i am booting the evox bios. it also has a 3 tb seagate barracuda 5400rpm hdd in it with the starlink adapter. it also has a 80 wire ide cable that chimeric used to sell. it is running the 1.300v of xbmc4gamers. everything else is stock.
  18. Hi all , I have an original xbox , I have the softmode kit ( usb cable , usb sprinter cell game pen ) and I would like to install it on my original xbox XBMCGames : is there a guide for non-experts? I searched on you tube but couldn't find it. thanks
  19. Hello, This is my first post. My xbox is random freezing with buzzing noise. I have no choice but to turn it of. After turn it on, it goes into boot loop, turns on and of automatically. I have to wait an hour and it will work again. It is modded with Xblast and 128mb ram. The clock capacity has been removed, the board has been cleaned and also fixed 2 broken traces a few years ago. I used to play every day without any issues. It's been two months since I last turn it on. I don't see any leaking capacitors or broken traces. The only thing I can think of is the power supply that is very noisy. Was wondering if anyone has encounter this issue?
  20. i've seen some bad info out there for noobs trying to mod a xbox for the first time. the 2 main ones are to null or modify your hdd key(without disclosing any of the dangers) instead of just keeping the old hdd as a backup to create another drive if needed and the 2nd one is to pry the gpu heat sink off. please don't do this, especially on a xbox that has sentimental value to u. this is a good way to ruin it. we really need to start being more careful what we tell noobs to do. i know my original xbox has a lot of sentimental value to me because it still has the game saves from where i used to go to lan parties with it back in the mid 2000's. i'd be heart broken if one of these guides caused me to ruin it. many other would probably feel the same way about theirs.
  21. I believe I seen a Reddit post couple days ago by KaosEngineer touching on this topic the post was sometime back, I'm wondering if it's practical today to even attempt or even flash an pc optical drive. I am aware that you can of course get parts from other consoles.. I asked this out of curiosity as I lack the information and experience on the topic.
  22. I bought this Xbox new and rarely played it. It is not modded. I pulled it out a month or so ago and it wouldn't play. I had the drive professionally replaced. It worked for a while. Now it will not power up. I just want to see what I can get for it. Also included are two like-new controllers, power cable, composite cable, standard component cable, and upgraded TKS Custom component cable. The TKS cable is a huge upgrade! I'll take $95 (OBO) shipped in the lower 48 US states for all of it. It will be packed well and shipped UPS ground. PayPal only. Thanks guys. Like new controllers: TKS Custom component cable: Standard composite and component cables:
  23. Hi all, Brand new to the OG XBox scene I just imported myself a JP NTSC unit for that 60hz goodness. Being in Australia means not wanting to buy locally due to being a PAL 50hz territory. Can anyone point me in the right direction to a compatible 240V power supply for this unit? Thanks in advance! Edit: Just doing some reading, it seems the done thing is buying a second local xbox of the same revision / has the same headers, and swapping the PSU into my imported unit. Is that about right?
