About Me

  1. I have this listed on ebay for $850 but would sell on Paypal or Venmo for $750 since I wouldn't have to pay fees. The CPU is upgraded to a 1.26 GHz Tualatin, but it overclocks to 1.42 GHz without issue. See ebay listing here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/335333381339
  2. XBOX original dvd drive(sdg-605f) not working. Problem is with dvd drive capacitors. I dont know how to connect them. Please help me in understanding the capacitors connection. And 1 more thing is tht can I use other capacitos whose values are slightly c?
  3. (Cross-posting from Reddit having done further testing to see if anyone has any other ideas on how to fix this) My hard-modded Xbox 1.2 with OpenXenium and Cerbios 2.3.2 Alpha set as the default BIOS has an issue where it'll take several attempts to boot fully into XBMC4Gamers. If I power the machine on, the power, eject button and controller port lights come on, the DVD drive clicks a couple of times and the disk activity light stays solidly on for 5-10 seconds before stopping. The machine will then get stuck on a black screen and I have to power cycle it. I've noticed that the Xbox seems less likely to boot successfully if I boot it up 'cold' for the first time in several days or weeks whereas it's more likely to boot if I try it 4 or 5 times in quick succession. The machine has the following: XboxHD+ Revision 3C (the issue still occurred when I was using a component cable instead of HDMI) iND-BiOS, EvoX M8 Plus 1.0.5838.1 and Cerbios 2.3.2 Alpha added via the OpenXenium launch menu - the issue occurs with all 3 BIOSes Crucial MX500 2TB SSD connected via a StarTech IDE to SATA adaptor Brook Wingman XB2 paired wirelessly with official Xbox Series X controller - I've noticed when using Cerbios that the controller pairs successfully even when the machine gets stuck on a black screen? replacement capacitors clock capacitor removed DVD drive belt replaced 128MB RAM upgrade I bought the Xbox pre-modded on eBay and the last 3 items on that list were done by the seller. Other hardware mods like the XboxHD+ installation and replacement capacitors were done by the trusted UK modder I use. I've tried rebuilding the C:\ drive using an OG Xbox Installer 2021 DVD (or at least manually doing the equivalent using the built-in file manager as some of the files were failing to read off the drive) but that didn't make a difference. Once the machine has booted fully, it seems pretty stable and I've been able to complete several games on the system. Any ideas what can be done to get the machine to boot more reliably? If it's a hardware issue, I don't have any soldering skills but I don't mind sending it off to get it looked at - I'm just hoping that the issue is fixable as I don't really want the hassle of purchasing a replacement console and having to transplant everything over.
  4. I've been having this issue for a while, and I am not sure where to write about it. I mentioned it in a post a few years ago, but now have more information but it makes the whole thing even more baffling. I am using an Original v1.4 Xbox (Halo Green Edition) There are a handful of games that my Xbox just refuses to play, period. Originally, the only games I knew didn't work properly were Stubbs the Zombie, Psy-Ops and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. They both would freeze at specific spots during the game, Stubbs during the "Don't do drugs" and Psy-Ops the final battle. Stubbs example - https://youtu.be/hO2w5w1KKFs With Stubbs, I tried it on my Xbox 360 and it worked perfectly without issue. So, I thought it was just a bad eye, or DVD-Drive. Drive picture - https://i.imgur.com/sMV3iMj.png I recently modded my system so that I could play Back-ups and preserve my discs, and low and behold...... the same issue is still happening.. even when played off HD, and there are more games! For example, with Stubbs.. I tried from disc, dvd2drive to play it off the HD, I went and got another disc from a local retro GameStore, and even found a back-up online to try out... and all freeze up exactly at that spot. Now I am finding other games with the same issue. Hulk: Total Destruction friezes when you start the game. Gauntlet Seven Sorrows freezes up after a few minutes of starting the game proper, it seems to be related to certain music tracks, but don't quote me. Once again, I've tried playing it on Disc, off HD, and even going out of my way to try a back-up I found on the net (both burned to DVD, and from HD) and it's the same results. Yet it works fine in my Xbox 360...... Seven Sorrows HardDrive - https://youtu.be/sE_dQsfw-lc Seven Sorrows DVD - https://youtu.be/xj8nMN3cLFY Seven Sorrows 360 - https://youtu.be/RdiYtq0Atyc (Runs with no issue) I did remove a bad clock/time capacitor as recommended. I am using the StarTech IDE2SATA with a 2TB Crucial SSD. Hardmodded my system with an open xenium chip. Here are some internal shots https://i.imgur.com/aAJkDMl.png https://i.imgur.com/qtmAh2x.png https://i.imgur.com/JzQEk8R.png https://i.imgur.com/llRixDK.png https://i.imgur.com/3IWYJ2N.png https://i.imgur.com/2ohDFWG.png https://i.imgur.com/MO0rsR9.png https://i.imgur.com/cf0opZT.png https://i.imgur.com/1VZ4Mez.png The High Voltage Capacitor on the PSU seems to reflect silver when I use the flash, so here's a better look at it. https://i.imgur.com/cdnAVqD.png https://i.imgur.com/Bm4ybuf.png So I want to know what is going on? Other games work just fine, I played through Robocop (2003) on my Xbox just last week with no issue and a few other games. Why do these handful of games crash, is it a bad chip? capacitor? Has anyone found an issue like this? Thank you all in advance!
  5. Has anyone in the history of the modern world ever gotten a USB spinner to work on their modded Xbox? I've looked everywhere on the internet and it looks like someone is going to land on Pluto before anyone gets a USB spinner to work on a modded Xbox.
  6. Hello, I have a modded original Xbox that has coin-ops 8 on it. I have a USB trackball and mouse that work perfectly for it on games like centipede and similar to that. I just recently bought a GRS USB spinner for it, but it doesn't recognize it. I've gone as deep in the settings as possible, but it still won't work. I've even sent the spinner back for a replacement thinking it must be a bad spinner, but it's still the same problem with the new one. But yet the cheap mouse I bought at Walmart for $8.00 works on the games perfectly. Does anyone know of a spinner out there that would work for my setup. I also saw a product called a Wingman XB that is supposed to let you use all sorts of modern PC and gaming controllers on the original Xbox. I can't find any info about it making any spinners work for it though. Can someone here help please? P.S. this GRS spinner is supposed to act like a USB mouse that just uses the horizontal axis.
  7. Hey guys, so anyways I have an original Xbox gamester arcade stick that has stucky buttons, how do i make them not sticky so they function better?
  8. Hey guys, so anyways I just got nxdk setup already on my windows laptop, but I want to write an emulator for the Xbox badly but how do I go from there? What programming languages does nxdk support? Should I write a basic emulator just to learn sdl2 or port a existing emulator over?
  9. I got recently an original black Xbox (the very classic so) but I would like to change the case for another one, like a reproduction of the Halo 2 Bell Ice Blue edition one. I know it would be not legit, but I just want to have one that look like this. It's just for fun and cosmetic for me. How to get one ? Should I try 3D Printing ? Or can I find some here or somewhere else ?
  10. Hello everyone. I’ve modded a few Xbox 360s and want to take on the task of modding an original Xbox. I see a really good priced xbox but it’s in PAL format. My question is if I mod it with a stellar chip and HDMI+ will the console output in 1080i? I know the PAL format doesn’t support it. I know if I mod the console it won’t be region locked so I’ll be able to play ntsc games on it. If play NTSC games on the PAL modded system with HDMI will it support 1080i? Thanks for the help.
  11. In this well descripted analysis, Markus Gaasedelen has managed to successfully dump the console's secret boot ROM by intercepting the Intel CPU's JTAG functionality with a custom made adapter. Its amazing to see discoveries appear here and there to this very day in 2023, since this can open the full capabilities of the hardware to many hobbyists and hardcore developers. Detailed explanation can be found here: https://blog.ret2.io/2023/08/09/jtag-hacking-the-original-xbox-2023/
  12. Hi guys, first time posting here. So, I live in Brazil and the OG Xbox never got sold here. Recently bought one with a defective 110V PSU to attempt to repair and have currently reached a dead end trying to solve it. What I currently have is the following: ===PSU's PRIMARY SIDE=== - First filter cap (the really big one near) has a reading of approx. 170V. - When powering off, the voltage drains off filter cap normally. ===SECONDARY SIDE=== - No bulging caps, haven't recapped. Shorted VSTB to POW-ON to test and got the following: - 3.27V on VSTB to POW-ON, which I understand is what is needed. - 3.16V on VSTB to VS, which I think is low. - 5.3 on DNA1002D's pin 1, which I'm not sure is supposed to be that high. - 13.5V on the HV end of the optocouplers and little to nothing on the other end, which I think is wrong. - nothing on the pins for 5V nor 12V when shorting VSTB to POW-ON My best bet is the voltage is off on the secondary part of the PSU, maybe because of a faulty transistor or resistor (haven't found the fault) and POW-OK isn't triggering the feedback circuit, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm an amateur at best and know I shouldn't be attempting to repair a PSU with little knowledge, but am taking every precaution possible. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
  13. The xbox dvd drive is SDG-605B version B it scratches discs. Refer to discScratches.JPG the scratches are not circular. I am trying to pin point the root cause of the damage. The xbox must of been dropped. The optical pickup head must be causing the scratches but I don't see any raised sharp edges that would cause those marks. The dvd drive reads both cd's and dvd's but they get damaged in the process. The xbox original is TSOP so the only use I have for the drive is formatting the hdd. I thought I would disassemble the dvd drive and compare it to an identical drive. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1B0_VHvgu-ACzN3azkw6Aq4r6GdUQbuLW?usp=drive_link A.JPG is the dvd drive scratching discs B.JPG is a reference drive identical to A.JPG
  14. I think its a good idea to have a thread with all of the 3d printable parts listed here so that others can find them easily. I'll start by adding my own creations, here is a replacement CPU/GPU bracket. 15. Hi, someone with a OriginalXBOX MODDED could send me the "FIRST CHECKPOINT SAVE GAME" of the game "RENT-A-HERO ENGLISH VERSION"? The important think the game is ENGLISH VERSION (and NO JP VERSION) and the save is on FIRST CHECKPONT (when you in game put the creamcast on tv and do the first save, after the prologue). I really hope someone give me the saves i need. THANKS.
  16. Hi all , I have an original xbox , I have the softmode kit ( usb cable , usb sprinter cell game pen ) and I would like to install it on my original xbox XBMCGames : is there a guide for non-experts? I searched on you tube but couldn't find it. thanks
  17. I believe I seen a Reddit post couple days ago by KaosEngineer touching on this topic the post was sometime back, I'm wondering if it's practical today to even attempt or even flash an pc optical drive. I am aware that you can of course get parts from other consoles.. I asked this out of curiosity as I lack the information and experience on the topic.
  18. I bought this Xbox new and rarely played it. It is not modded. I pulled it out a month or so ago and it wouldn't play. I had the drive professionally replaced. It worked for a while. Now it will not power up. I just want to see what I can get for it. Also included are two like-new controllers, power cable, composite cable, standard component cable, and upgraded TKS Custom component cable. The TKS cable is a huge upgrade! I'll take $95 (OBO) shipped in the lower 48 US states for all of it. It will be packed well and shipped UPS ground. PayPal only. Thanks guys. Like new controllers: TKS Custom component cable: Standard composite and component cables:
  19. I seen very little of it floating around out there very curious if anyone has any information how to obtain one.... yes yes I know completely unnecessary but very fun to mess with. I've even toyed with the idea of taking the journey down the path of constructing my own.

  21. A few of us at Steel Battalion Online OG Xbox community have put something together just in time for Insignia's beta launch. A relatively simple & cheap method to use modern gaming headsets with the OG Xbox Voice Chat Comm's. No hard mods necessary just a couple adapters from Amazon and you will be Golden. We've tested and with your modern headset you will get game audio, voice chat and microphone compatability all in the one headset like it should be. Full Guide can be found here with links to required hardware. https://www.reddit.com/r/steelbattaliononline/comments/yr9d7u/a_few_of_us_steel_battalion_players_have_figured/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
  22. Hello all! I've been tinkering around with my X3 OG Xbox to get it ready for Insignia, and the main issue I'm having is that every time I try to access the original MS Dashboard - I can hear the astronaut/space background sound, so I know it's *there*, but it's a black screen. I believe this has SOMETHING to do with the resolution my xbox is running in: I am using an XOSVP/component cable and the xbox is set to 480p/720p+1080i disabled. IIRC the MS Dashboard is... 480i? Could that be why I only get a black screen when trying to access the Xbox Live account settings? I managed to get it to appear after messing around with a bunch of settings and hauling a scart TV out and connecting it via a scart connector, but as this is a huge hassle, is there some way to access this dashboard without screwing up all my resolution settings? I see a "Modded Microsoft Dashboard 5960" available for download via XBMC4GAMERS but I'm afraid to download that in case it screws up xbmc4gamers. Anyone able to help please?
  23. Hey all, I just got my own xbox original, and fixed a couple things including FRAG 50% Green 50% Red, and getting rid of the clock capacitors. The issue I'm running into now, is that the xbox will freeze in both the menu and while in-game. I opened up the motherboard, and found that the black wire for the gpu cooling fan is cut. Would this be the main issue for the freezing? EDIT: I disconnected the wire to see if there would be another FRAG, but nothing happened. EDIT 2: This is an unmodded, stock components, Rev 1.1 xbox original
  24. Hi, I currently own a complete in box original Xbox that is missing the foam. Everything else is still sealed in their small bags such as the cords and remote. All I'm looking for is the inner styrofoam that is used in the box. Thanks!
