About Me

  1. So, I'm an old man and I can't remember how I flashed this XBox years ago. I have an Aladdin XT Plus2 with Evox +3935 and M8plus_16 fan 40.06 (not sure what size bios that is). I wrote a 2TB image to a drive and get an error telling me to upgrade to LBA48 ver 2. Can someone point me in the right direction. I do have FTP access to the box.
  2. I have 2 original XBOXes, one is v1.6 and I'll eventually add a modchip, and the other is a v1.2/v1.3. I finally got around to fix the corroded traces problem on the v1.2/v.13 by soldering 4 wires from a 80pin IDE cable, it looks much cleaner than using 4 stranded wires I added a used 1TB sATA HDD + IDE to sATA adapter + 80pin IDE cable and used Hexen 2018 or TruHexen 2021 (not sure which) which installed fine. BUT... I know the laser will eventually die and I want to have an alternative method of setting up an HDD, so I picked up a 2nd 1TB HDD and tried XBOX HD Maker 2.3 USB beta3, with the batch file modified to make it work with any connected HDD, not only USB. The steps I did were: - ran xboxhd.bat, option 2 (Launch xboxhdm), then within QEMU, option 1 (Build a new Xbox HD from scratch) - did NOT format partitions because it outputs "Error: out of memory" when formatting F: and then scrambles the entire output and menu, instead I went with option 3 (Format extended partitions on Xbox drive) + 4 (F and G splits space evenly), then 2 (Rebuild C-partition on existing Xbox-drive). When booting the XBOX with this HDD I get a blinking orange light and nothing on screen after the initial boot logo. If I use Hexen to install a Dashboard it works fine, so I know the HDD is correctly partitioned and formatted. The batch installs some files on the C drive, maybe these files are not the correct ones for a TSOPed XBOX?
  3. So I modded a 1.6 with a OpenXenium chip and flashed Evolution M8Plus 1.6. I upgraded the harddrive successfully and was launching into my new dashboard with no issues. I then went to flash a version of the EvoxM8plus that forces 480p and when I restart to test the flash I am greated with an error code 9. Brand new Seagate Barracuda 2tb HDD(ST2000DM008), brand new 80pin IDE cable, brand new startech ide to sata connector. I have removed the 480p bios and still getting the same result. I have removed the disk drive and still getting the same result. From my limited knowledge I feel that flashing the 480p bios is not my issue but that was literally the only thing that changed between my last successful boot. Trying to dig out my SATA to USB to look at the HDD on my PC but I have no other ideas of what could be happening, do I need to recheck my solder points?
  4. Just recently got an original Xbox and have been soft modding it. Wanted to try out the original xbox since there are many classics on the system like Conker Live and Reloaded and I feel its best to experience them on original hardware.
  5. Hello friends! I'm looking to make this new Modchip project called Redux. My question is which software to use to place the "VHDL" file to generate the .jed or .svf files in order to program the I.C. Lc4652? My thanks to Kekule for the project and his collaborators! link project: https://github.com/Kekule-OXC/R3DUX THXs Pcb already in manufacture. jlcpcb.com value of 5 pcs $2.00.
  6. So i've bought a nice chip called a Jafar, a Rebuild of the Aladdin. It has 3 Banks. 1 512k, 1 256k and 1 256k with Xblast ( Autoboots ) Fitted this and it all works a charm, Now i'm thinking I might also Tsop it. Its a 1.4 Board. Could I simply solder the tsop points on the 1.4 board, Boot the chip into Xblastos which gives the option to flash the Tsop as well as the other 2 banks and flash it? Or would I need to look at removing some of the Chip? Maybe the g0 gound?
  7. I had a softmodded xbox back in 04/05. A friend had done it for me and i have many finf memoies of it. Buy i had no idea what it was actually capeable of. Now i have an og xbox that i just picked up and am looking to get the most out of as i can through an extended period of time.
  8. Hi all, I joined because I have a 1.0 build I did back in the day (2004), obviously things have changed a lot since then. I have the solderless xecutor 2.3b lite where you screw it onto the board headers and everything still works great. I did remove my clock cap before it could wreck anything. I've upgraded my fan to a noctua. I do have the later heat sinks in hand, but I will probably defer installation until I do a full recap and my HDMI mod from MakeMHZ. I have a 200 GB ide drive in there now, running avalaunch dashboard. I do like that dashboard but I'm guessing that is very out of date. I've done a few updates here and there, and I added some better emulators but I'm still mostly running the same old stuff I did back then. After adding xb partitioner 1.3 and starting it up to see what it looks like, I found that I need to upgrade my bios to allow me to go with the 2 TB drive I bought and the venerable StarTech SATA adapter I have. I'm downloading TruHeXen 2020 right now from archive so maybe that will have a new bios that will let me use the 2TB. The last time I set one of these up might have been around 2007 with an evox disc I probably got off usenet back then. I still have that disc but I'm sure it isn't going to get me where I want to be with regard to upgrading to a 2TB drive. Anyway, I will be searching the forums before simply asking someone to tell me things that have been answered tons of times. Just thought I would introduce myself. Thanks!
  9. Hi. I am introducing myself in the forum. I am trying to bring to the life my xbox 1.6 with Tuscany power supply that looks dead, the xbox do not power on and doesn't do anything when try to power on. No measurement in the famous T2 transistor. There is no corrosion in my board and caps seems to be ok, so ... what is next to test? I would like to see the repairment guide but is not available for me at this point for newbie, so I ask you. Thank you all!
  10. I had been selling refurbished Xbox's on eBay for a while, when PayPal restricted my account for seemingly no reason. While I waited for that to hopefully resolve itself, I decided to make a website where you can buy custom modded OG Xbox's as well as repairs. Let me know what you think! I haven't gotten around to changing how it looks or anything, as I'm not really an artsy person. Is there any mods that I should include? Are there any problems I should know about? I don't exactly think this will be a big deal, mostly something to keep myself occupied while I wait for my eBay store to come up again. Thank you! Consolemodshed.com
  11. Just checking to see if there are any devs that would like to look into any of these games that have the source available. I know some have already been ported to xbox, however there are quite a few that would be interesting to see running. https://github.com/historicalsource?tab=repositories Here is the original thread where I came across it. Thanks to Anthony for bringing it up. https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14362&sid=6ed6fdb2d6b35f40b68765561d4d2f92
  12. Error 13 after successful hdd clone. 2tb hdd cloned and locked using chimp. Star tech adapter and 80 wire ode cable used for upgrade. What steps do I try to resolve the error? Any help welcomed.
  13. Like the title says i am new just joined and i wanna say hello to everyone. I learned about this forum from a youtuber and decided to make an account cause in hopes that this forum is pretty active as i haven't found many active places for the original xbox. If anybody has any questions about me being new i am willing to answer sofor a new member i hope to be welcomed by you all.
  14. Hi all I'm Mark and I've had an old modded OG Xbox for years. Recently I went to add a game I purchased from a second hand store and found my old HDD was full. So after 17 years away from the scene I find myself back modding a 1TB drive I had lying about. Two days later I'm almost there, but I have a couple of questions if thats OK. First - off how do I modify the main menu to link to the emulators I've installed using the iso images ? For the life of me I can't recall where that file is. Secondly XBMC and XBMC4Gamers is not selectable. I couldn't find XBMC as an installer option on the ISO so perhaps thats it - or maybe i need to edit the an ini or cfg file to point to the XBMC executable? Finally - my executer 2 Modchip is shown as protected - frankly apart from only being able to run boring desktop I've got HDD Loader running fine, so this isn't a biggie. I'm sure I'll pick up stuff over time, but if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Cheers Mark.
  15. Hi guys! I'll get right into it: The question: Is there a way to properly/completely install dashboards via FTP (rather than via DVD-R)? (The secondary question: Is there a special dash/tool/step I'm missing to re-unlock the ability to rip games to the hard drive?) The chip: Xecuter 3CE The build: X3 Build 1959 The context: (Bear with me because it's been a long time since I originally setup this system, so I'm relearning a lot as I go.) I've had a v1.4 xbox hard modded for well over a decade that I would pull out occasionally. Unfortunately, I suspected the drive started going bad due to massive load times and freezing issues, and after a failed data recovery specialist attempt, I need to rebuild the drive from scratch. The up-side is that my Xecuter seems to still be going strong, and with the fresh drive I can boot into X3CL and FTP to the drive. I used the Disk Tools to reformat the drive and can see all the partitions in WinSCP. I recently downloaded the EvoX dash (build 3935) and transferred the .xbe file to my C drive. This let me "Reboot To Dash" successfully, but the dashboard did not have any options to copy/play games (which is the ultimate goal -- to restore my Halo 2 mods to their former glory), and the dashboard seemed to wreck my ability to FTP into the drive. (WinSCP couldn't get the directory listing, so nothing would show up. I finally got back into it by basically reformatting the drive a couple times using a temporary third drive to get me back into X3CL...but anyway...) As well, I also notice that there are many other files in my EvoX download (skins, trainers, etc.) that I am completely ignoring by copying just the .xbe file over. All over the internet (and this forum), I see recommendations to burn a custom ISO to a DVD-R and install from that, but I'd like to know if it's possible to complete this process properly via FTP. I'm sure there's more info I could be providing here, so please let me know if I left anything out. Any and all input is appreciated! Thank you!
  16. So yesterday i decided to flash a new bios to my V1.1 Xbox Modchip Super Aladdin with the SST49LF020 to remove de DVD drive check and used EVtool to edit a EvoX M8+ 256K Bios, but me being stupid i also decided to change the EvoX logo to be sure the Bios was indeed changed, big mistake. The flashing completed, the Xbox turned off and now when i press for 1 second to activate the chip i get no signal from the TV, no animation, no sound nothing. I even put Hexen 2018 but nothing, it's dead. But it boot to the stock dashboard with a quick press. I've been searching for hours, but still have some questions: 1) If i buy one of those Aladdin XT PLUS2 XT+4032 that come with a SST49LF020A can i just replace that with mine and it will work? I saw that it comes pre-flashed with a EvoX M8 bios? 2) Do you know were to buy just the SST49LF020 with the Bios? I feel very sad about this, because i treasure my consoles and this was my main and first Original Xbox and would like to restore it.
  17. Hey all! 10 years ago I bought an Xbox with a modchip installed on. I didn't use it much (meaning I barely used it at all). Lately I decided to dust it off. I started by removing the clock capacitor. From searching around the internets I came to the conclusion that the installed modchip is an Aladin, but the modchip itself doesn't have any identifications on it. My questions are: 0) When talking about BIOSies, are they modchip bios or the Xbox's bios? 1) I have used the HeXEn 2018 disc and I saw that my modchip (or is it the Xbox?) has the EvoX M8 bios. Is this different from the M8+? 2) Should I try upgrading to M8+ (if it is different) and how can I find if my modchip (or is it the Xbox?) has a 256 or 512 KB bios? 3) What does it mean if an HDD is locked or unlocked? (Mine says locked) 4) I found an old IDE HDD 160GB of mine. Can I just put it inside and install a dashboard with HeXEN so I may get the capacity? 5) To go to the custom dashboard I have to keep the power button for a second and during boot it will have an "EvoX" logo on the upper left corner. If I push it momentarily the Xbox starts as the is no modchip installed. Is this going to be a problem somehow? Thank you for your answers!
  18. hello all, been playing xbox since it came out and still think it is an awesome console. been a member of the fb group for a while but haven't gotten around to getting on here until now. I am selling my gaming collection and have a whole stack of games, controllers, and consoles that need to stop collecting dust in my house. I am getting ready to move and I am sure we all know how heavy the darn console is. Anyways, I will post a thread with all of what I got once I get validated and all that. Glad this forum exists!
  19. Hey all, it's good to be back in the scene. When I was a kid I had an Xbox (no idea the revision), an Xecuter 2.6ce (which I still wish I could find), and absolutely no clue what I was doing. Bricked my Xbox and hadn't touched one since just recently. Hooked again, can't wait to really start modding. Just scratched the surface with my chipped 1.6, and I'm working on getting a 1.0 and another 1.6 working shortly. Thanks for hosting such a great community with a ton of knowledge!
  20. Hi saw this forum and felt like it's worth joining. I have been into modding these consoles for many years as a hobby. I currently own 5 OG xbox's My main xbox is the xbox crystal modded with the 1.5 board replaces with a version 1.1 board, 1tb hdd, and blue leds for the controller ports. it's also running rocky5s Xbmc4gamers. my other consoles are mostly experimental, with one of them being being made for the US market, but some how in the UK, manufactured November 2001 and converted to a 240v PSU, possibly making it one of the oldest still working xboxs here in the UK, also converted to pal. I hope to learn allot from this forum and perhaps share my knowledge also.
  21. Greetings everyone. Here's the situation: both my xboxes' dvd drives died. One is a thomson which receives power, but won't read the disks; then there's the philips one which doesn't even get recognized. I have one of those lg drives for pc that can be adapted to work as a new xbox dvd drive, but i miss the yellow power cable to attach it to the mobo. So my idea was to get it from the power/eject buttons. Does anybody have already attempted this and some tips?Is it even possible?(i cannot get ahold of a newcable for experimenting for cheap,so imstuck with this). My idea was to build like a couple of buttons to short the pins on the connectors on the motherboard in order to prompt the power/eject switches(don'tcare about leds, i only care of a good functioning xbox). Thanks in advance.
  22. Hello, Just signed up. I'm in NE Iowa and have been soft modding for a few years to keep our fleet of Xbox's working and not use discs anymore for our LAN parties. We normally LAN a few times a year (except for 2020) and hope to resume soon. I enjoy this site and decided to member up. Thank you.
  23. Hey guys, Wyverino here I am fairly new to the xbox modding scene. My gf just gifted me an old premodded 1.1 for christmas and I love it so far. I just want to tweak it a little more to make it my hopefully favorite console! Wish all of you guys a happy new year!
