About Me

  1. Hello there! I bought myself a soft modded original Xbox and also found out you could make it look like the 360 blades with XBMC and MC360, now I also know I want to use XLink Kai and when Insignia launches for the console, I wanted to do that as well but I also know MC360 probably won’t work for that since it’s not been updated in years from what I’ve read on forums. I guess to shorten all of this up, am I overwriting my Rocky5 softmod with XBMC or MC360? Or would I be able to just switch back and forth between all the dashboards I want? Any help is greatly appreciated! (:
  2. I purchased an XT+2 from AliExpress with the purpose of reprogramming it for XBlast purposes (RAM upgrades n such), but I found that this chip I purchased included an NPN transistor on the D0 line to properly drive it (rather than using the pin on the Lattice CPLD directly). The Jafar chip uses this same method albeit using a MOSFET of some description but the effect is the same. This seems like a new development, I haven't seen anyone else have a chip like this and I imagine most of the new ones produced going forwards will be this way. But it shows that the producers are taking steps to bring the modchips forward into the modern day. Here is a closeup of the board, you can see the added transistor.
  3. Hello Guys. I need some advice. I have a Xbox 1.4 with a windbond chip that I TSOPed a few years ago using a Hexen disk, I don't remember exactly the bios that was flashed, but when I turn on the xbox the evoX logo comes up, so I'm gonna guess my xbox has a m8 plus. The console works fine, but the fan is very noisy (it's a Sunon), so today I disassembled the xbox, replaced the thermal paste in both gpu and cpu (i've gained like 5 degrees), cleaned and oiled the fan and...it's still very very noisy and loud. So, I've been looking for a replacement fan, and found that people recommend the "Nexus 70mm Real Silent Case Fan". But, they also recommend to up the fan speed (to 40% I think) because by default, it won't cool the console as the stock fan does. To do that, ¿I should flash a new Bios right? the m8 plus using EVtools and selecting 40% fan speed? something like this: My DVD drive is dead, so I can't use Hexen, or the OGXBOX Installer, but I can FTP to the console. Any advice on flashing a windbond chip? Thank you so much for your time.
  4. Xenium-Programmer-SMD Made a revision to the original Xenium Programmer. Now shows you which step you’re on in the programming process. And the Power LED functions correctly (showing you when pi is powered up and running vs just has power available) thoughts?
  5. So I received this in the post today, to me it looks like a re-design of the Aladding XT. 1mb chip with X2 512k bios, xblas & IND 256k bios each. I've seen several posts and links here before to other forums about re-programming the IC on Aladding XT but no exact step by step guide. And recently someone else did it on discord and I reaced out to them but they never shared how they did it. I got a faulty Aladding XT which was working fine and had the chip on it flashed with Xblast bios for testing while doing ram upgrades until one day it went bad after an attempt and since then it just frags whenever its installed on any board. I know its not the ST chip as I re-programmed it and tried different ones but it just does the same which could only mean the IC gone bad or curruept on it. I've got several devices that could program the xsv files format like NAND-X, Glitch360 Spi & Matrix NAND programmer. anyone used or has idea how any of these can be used to program the IC on Aladdin XT or read the IC on this new Jafar chip?
  6. Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum and honestly to any forum of this type. I never really got into modding but have had the urge to do so now. Modern games dont do it for me. Either the constant attempts to take all your money, the games feeling repetitive, or beloved franchises being completely disrespected. I spent so much time complaining about games that i decided that i wanted to go back to a time when i actually enjoyed games. The orginal Xbox had every genre i could imagine and had many entries within the same franchise come out on it unlike what we see now where we are lucky to get one game in a franchise in a generation. Even though i played a ton of the original xbox there was so much i missed out on and i am looking forward to experiencing those things as if they were new. I am just glad i started my collection of games a really really long time ago and never got rid of them. Any good tips on where to pick up games where everything including the manual are intact but are not going to spend a fortune? Any recommendations on where is the best place to download games?
  7. hi everyone, just got myself a modded xbox after i missed that xbox era with my ps2 and gamecube.
  8. chimp clones to new HDD with out problems but i get error 16 when i put in the new drive after cloning. i tried the 'fix error 16' button in chimp, it said it was good but when i put back in the new HDD i still get Error 16. The stock 10GB HDD i got with the xbox still works if i connect it. i then tired booting the xbox with the 10GB HDD then turning off the xbox and putting in the new HDD but then i got error 13. plz help i already spent like 70$$ on this shit. my xbox is soft modded i removed the clock capacitor i have a compatible HDD, 40-pin/80-wire IDE cables, a working SATA to IDE converter Thank you
  9. Hi all, First of all, I'd like to thank Rocky5 and all involved in the softmodding tool, that really is a painless way to softmod. 18 years ago I was reading unofficial magazines on Xbox mods and was baffled by all that's possible and I'm glad I can start doing similar stuff thanks to you! I'm seeking help in the following problem, I posted this on Reddit but maybe you guys will have a better idea of what's going on here. I have seen several topics with the same problems over different boards but have yet to find a solution. I hope you guys don't mind. I've been stuck on this for the past few days. I'm trying to clone my hard drive (Seagate ST310211A, the 10GB one). I've tried using a WD3200AAJS, which was listed as working on x-pecs by multiple accounts, but haven't had luck as it returns Error 11 (missing/malfunctioning dvd drive). I know for a fact the drive is fine because when I plug everything back together with the stock drive, the console boots properly. Now, the WD is rated for 0.68A at 5v and 12v, so I looked up the current rating for the stock Seagate, which is here : Since the WD was quite a bit higher I took another hard drive I had lying around (Hitachi HTB-DS7AE100(B) ). Now I hadn't seen anything telling me this drive would be lockable or anything but I gave it a try nonetheless. Chimp recognized it fine and the clone went smoothly and it locked okay. The drive is rated for 0.42A for both 5 and 12v, so I thought it'd work better now. Still no luck as I get error 11 again. I do have a new 80 wire 40 pin cable, and am using the startech adaptor. The cable works fine with the stock drive, and the startech adaptor has good reputation, so I'm really at a loss here. Jumper switched back from slave to master (forgot it once and had error 7 this time). Can it be the hard drive drawing too much current and not leaving enough for the dvd drive? Dvd drive tray opens and closes even with error 11, everything's plugged in tight. I'm really at a loss here so any help is greatly appreciated, even if it's just 'buy this HDD, it works fine with the startech adaptor' !
  10. I'm running a 1.6 Xbox, M8+ and UnleashX. I have a 500GB SSD and have transferred over about 250gb of games so far, and only have four left. Whenever I try to transfer over any game directory, I get this result from FileZilla. It repeats this process for every file in the folder until I cancel the transfer. This happens when I try to write to F:\games, but Interestingly enough, I'm able to transfer games over to my 5gb E:\ partition just fine. I've tried Windows' built-in FTP browser, but had no luck there either. Any knowledge on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. 11. Hello! My name is Yngve. I have a little collection of OG Xbox consoles: I got one 1.0 that I softmodded end installed a 2tb HDD in, bought a 1.6 modded with an xecuter 3 and some form of HDD upgrade (needs going over) and a crystal I belive 1.6 thats dead… The crystal one was found at a resycling center… Looking to modify my 1.0 with a OpenXenium and maby 128mb ram. Might look into some cooling and case mods. Anyways, thanks for having a community for this old and interesting console!
  12. Has anyone seen this? After talking to a well known scene member he says its legit. up to 8tb hdd and .iso supported. From xbox scene forums: "This is a new custom bios with all existing and new features implemented by the team. While we may share some similarities that can be found in bioses such as config loading, custom colors etc, our solution will be different compared to all existing solutions. In addition new tools will also be released to take advantage of some of the features we have implemented. With our custom LBA support we now support hdds up to 8TB in storage size.No more 2.2tb limitations and file corruption.***8TB size limit may be expanded upon again in the futureMore info will be made available in due time Everyone loves a little ISO in their life. So why not add it natively into our bios.No more patching Bioses with hacky ASM, Diskutilities, Dashloader or Nkpatcher. With Cerbios just boot your console select your favorite game and enjoy endless hours of fun.Existing attach.xbe compatible.Check out the videos below of two problematic games working flawlessly as ISO and on 128mb hardware using Cerbios.https://emalm.com/?v=WU9GVhttps://emalm.com/?v=RNwC3But why should I use ISOs over HDD dumps?Well with our custom LBA support for HDD up to 8TB there is no excuse about not having enough space.ISOs do not have file length limitation like some HDD rip games do, so no patching or truncating of file names is required. All DRM checks pass as ISO (Harry Potter).More info TBA" Cerbios Alpha V1.zip
  13. Hi I found this forum by accident but it seems fairly active which is cool. This is the first og Xbox related site I found. I like to chip Xboxes occasionally and sell them. Don't know if that's of interest here. I also look forward to just chatting in general with people here on the forum.
  14. Hey folks! New member here! Bought a custom OG Xbox modded and loaded a while back and recently moved. Hooked it up and turned it on and got a #12 error with red ring. I’d love to to find someone reputable that I could send off for service. Thank you
  15. OK, I'll try to be thorough here. I have a 1.2 XBox with an X-B.I.T. It had been stored in my loft for over 10 years. When I attempted to use it, the 120GB IDE HDD had failed. I re-installed my original XBox HDD which I must have also modded back in the day, and everything worked fine. I got a replacement 120GB IDE HDD and set it up as new using FATXplorer with the C and E file from the link mentioned at https://www.hazeno.com/guides/fatxplorer-2tb-preload Now, my XBox will happily boot from any disc that I put in the DVD drive, but when I boot to the UnleashX dash and pop a disc in the DVD tray in order to copy it to F:, the tray shows as Empty. It doesn't matter what disc I put in, it always shows as empty. Subsequently, if I launch the MS Dashboard from UnleashX, when the MS Dash loads I get the standard "Your Xbox can't recognize this disc. Make sure it's an Xbox game, DVD movie, or audio CD. Also check to see if the disc is dirty or damaged. Remove the disc to continue." I have iND 5003.67 and evox M8 Plus 137 flashed in the X-B.I.T.
  16. good evening Request If I take the component signals before the 0.27ohm resistors to install an internal wii2hdmi, do you think it can be a problem? Would it still work? Anyway tomorrow I'll try
  17. Chimp or FTP is the question I have about 1TB of games on a 2TB drive in a modded box with an xecuter 2.6 chip. I recently picked up another xbox and actually found that I had an extra xecuter 2.6 chip on hand. I recently installed it, and it works just fine, so I have purchased another 2TB drive to put in it. Would it be best to use Chimp to clone it, or should I just throw Hexen on it and FTP over the files. My mind is saying to use Hexen and go the FTP route so I don't have to swap a live drive or touch the other box but maybe I am just over thinking it. What would you do?
  18. I received a modded OG Xbox from ebay recently. It's got the original HDD in it, so that needs changing, but I've no experience with this process. I have a stack of old HDDs but they're all SATA, can I use a PATA-SATA adapter? Do I need to use specific software? Can the Xbox format it itself, or do I need to do this on my PC? Also, I'm guessing quite a lot has changed in the decade I've been away from Xbox modding, and I'm sure the software on this one is ancient too. Anything essential that's come along since that'll need adding to this? Mostly I just want to fill up an HDD and get on with it, I don't have any particular interest in HDMI mods (I'm using a CRT) or media players etc.
  19. Hello everyone, I love buying broken electronics and fix them as a hobby, last week i came across 3 xbox consoles ( V1.0 , V1.3 & V1.6 ) . I've never owned an xbox so i'm currently taking my time in learning as much as possible as i go through the repair/restorations, any comments or critiques are very much welcome. Just a FYI below are the status of each model i got, 1. Xbox Version 1.0 : Alot of Clock capacitor leak and very bad corrosion (i'll put a picture of the damage) the xbox was cleaned with contact cleaner and some vinegar as well and used a soft tooth brush, but the are above the clock capacitor is very well much gone and will need to be wired manually , also i can see two resistors non existent (picture incoming later) ; as a result this unit does not even power on at all , my guess is the power or eject button traces going up to the PIC microcontroller are broken i'll check it. 2. Xbox Version 1.3: This one is a USA model (110V) but where i live Mains is 220V so the power supply needs to be replaced with another PAL equivalent ( I'll post pictures later). Clock capcaitor leaked but the damage was not that bad like the V1.0 , all cleaned up . also the 3300uF caps were bulged so i replaced them. ( SIde note : This one is working with a transformer 220V-->110V but obviously I prefer to make it less clunky . I would really appreciate if someone would kindly lead me in the right direction as where can i find 220V power supplies for this model, much appreciated. 3. Xbox Version 1.6: This one had no screws whatsoever , the HDD in it is 80GB i doubt this is stock. The Xbox starts up but gives an error 06 which i believe means the HDD is not married correctly with the xbox so i ordered an aladdin XT to fix this problem ( I think that is the way to go ). Note : All the above CPU and GPU were repasted with a fresh new thermal paste. Please let me know if there are missing information, I'll update this post if needed. BR
  20. I just installed a 2TB SSD in my Xbox, as the previous HDD I had in it died. Once I got a dashboard installed (UnleashX 0.39.0528A), I started copying over my games. After 145 games, I started getting errors during FTP. When required, the FTP client would create subdirectories, but then trying to change in to the newly created sub directory would fail. All file uploads would fail as well. I've tried both FileZilla and WinSCP and both have the same problem. Here's the error from WinSCP: Dir already exists in cache! "/F/Games/<game name>/DATA": Directory not found. I deleted the cache volumes on the Xbox, but the error continues to happen. As it stands, I'm unable to upload anything else to the F volume. There's 708GB free on F, so disk space shouldn't be a problem. I also did a test using the File Manager app on the Xbox. I created a subdirectory in F:\Games and then copied a file from the E: over to the new subdirectory. The file doesn't show up in the subfolder. I did have the my games split between F and G before, but that was because of how the volumes were original configured and there wasn't enough space on a single volume. I should be able to fit everything on F, but this issue is stopping me from doing so. In case it matters, I'm using an M8Plus BIOS with LBA48 support which is patched for the XboxHD+. Both F and G are partitioned to about 972GB each.
  21. Hello everyone - I'm happy to report I just successfully installed an OpenXenium modchip to my Xbox 1.0, I've tested it, and it boots to the OpenXenium menu. I also dropped in a 1tb sata drive. My question is, what's the best next step from here in terms of bios / dashboard? I've created the OGXBox Installer 2021 DVD. Can I do everything I need with just that DVD? If so, how do I boot it from the openxenium menu?
  22. Hello, So while softmodding my V1.0 Xbox i managed to fry the original HDD. I was lucky enough to be able to get the Eeprom from the old hdd before it fried but i haven't bee able to find a guide on how to build a new drive. I had originally bought an 80 wire IDE and startech IDE to SATA adapter and have a 2tb hdd ready to use. Can anyone guide me on what i need to do to create a new Hdd?
  23. Hello, New member here. Modded a couple xboxes back between 2014 and 2016. Just got a new v1.6 and things seem to have changed. I never knew but RIP to theisozone. Glad to be here
  24. Hi Everyone! I'm in the market for a 1.0 motherboard that has had the extra ram up to 128mb chips added, has had all the caps replaced, the clock cap removed, the TSOP write points restored, and CPU thermal paste replaced. Essentially a nicely restored 128mb 1.0 motherboard that won't give me any trouble for! Optionally it would be nice to have the LPC pin headers installed in the case recovery is needed. I know there is a lot of time in that request between the caps and the ram, so please name your price. I'm in the US.
  25. Hi all, I've been out of the scene for ages, but recently saved a few xboxen from clock cap death and bought some aladdin chips to mod them with. Also got some SATA to PATA converters, which I haven't gotten working: proper 2 cap version with the master / slave jumper and an 80-pin cable, seems to cause a conflict with the DVD drive in every config I can think of - OGXBOX DVD shows "linux" and then DVD keep seeking back and forth forever. I thought I'd update the bios to see if that helped. I've gone through as many threads related to this topic as I can e.g. https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3866-aladdin-flash-not-writable/ and tried the suggested solutions, but I am unable to flash a new bios to my modchip. I' going to try and provide as much information as possible as well as the things I've tried, in the hope that someone can assist. Top side of the board (this is one I haven't installed, installed one is identical with BT and D0 connected correctly, chip boots fine): Bottom side of the board: Stuck on erasing (and bios ID): Bios hashes: I'm using OGXBOX Installer 2021 DVD. Xbox is reported as 1.4. So I've tried the following: xflash for sst49fl020: seems to be able to dump the flash, but fails on flash with an "Flash check id failed, are you sure you have flash enabled?" XBlast 0.56: select evoxm8_67. when I press both triggers, start and white, the xbox reboots (wtf?) OGXBOX menu flash: gets stuck on erase as per the image above Tried the short and long power button presses, doesn't seem to change anything. "Chip: Protected" appears on the OGXBOX screen Any suggestions? I do have a minipro programmer somewhere with (I think) the correct adapter so could try that as last resort. Thanks -j
