About Me

  1. Hi, I just wanted to present myself. I currently have 5 OGXBOX, 1 which is DEAD (broken motherboard), 1 softmodded, 1 chipped, and 2 TSOPed. Currently trying to standarize all my Xboxes so its easier for me to swap, recover, and install stuff. Thanks for the forum, I'll post some questions later.
  2. My OpenXenium came in the mail today and I'm looking forward to installing it in my 1.6. I currently have Rocky5's Softmod running, with a 500gb SSD installed. My concerns are that I can't get a clear answer on if I need to remove my softmod before or after the installation, how I go about that, or if I even need to remove it at all. I'm a bit of a chip noob so I don't have much of an idea as to what I'm doing past the soldering. I have about 250gb of games on my F drive which I would like to not transfer over again. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  3. Hello! My name is Yngve. I have a little collection of OG Xbox consoles: I got one 1.0 that I softmodded end installed a 2tb HDD in, bought a 1.6 modded with an xecuter 3 and some form of HDD upgrade (needs going over) and a crystal I belive 1.6 thats dead… The crystal one was found at a resycling center… Looking to modify my 1.0 with a OpenXenium and maby 128mb ram. Might look into some cooling and case mods. Anyways, thanks for having a community for this old and interesting console!
  4. A friend of mine modded my xbox so I have no clue what he did, but I am now using XMBC by default when I turn on my xbox, I am curious how can I revert it to the unleasx or evox (i dont know which one he installed while modding) ?
  5. I tried to install an Aladdin modchip on my TSOP'ed 1.0 xbox. I overestimated my soldering ability and managed to seriously botch the installation. It looks like I damaged the pads near D0. When I try to boot the xbox, it FRAGs. I'd like to get it back to a working state. Do I have any options for repair or am I SOL?
  6. I'm moving this topic from: I would do it in a more polished fashion, but I'm not a moderator and don't have the means to do so. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Post 1: In response to what dash I was using. Old ass xbmc 1.1 dude. I actually want to change to evox or maybe xbmc 3.5.3 but I don't know what the previous owner did for the installation on this particular box and i don't want to de-stabilize anything. The dash boots from a mounted (I'm assuming it's mounted) q: partition. X3cl is configured to boot the dash from f:, but the only files present in the root directory are evoxdash.xbe.old and evox.ini... What the fuck? How is this thing even booting? What the hell is going on? I would just do a clean install but i won't have direct pc access for another month or so, so i can't back up. I do have slayer 2.7 and ogxbox 2021 discs. Can i pull it off with those?... Assuming that's even enough info for you to assess the situation! Post 2: Basically, when asked to clarify and provide more details. Kaos, the two files I listed (an .ini and an .old) are literally the only 2 files in the root of f:. There are no valid executables there so i have no idea what the x3 is booting to get me into xbmc. That's my main point of confusion - If the X3 is set to boot the dash from the root of F: and there's no dash executable located there, then how the FUCK is my Xbox booting at all? How can my bios launch a dashboard (the XBMC 1.1.0 I mentioned) that, by all available and tangible evidence, doesn't fucking exist? but it loads, so obviously it exists somewhere) but can't even load a I'll check the logs. The dash priority list in configlive is the default list. When I change to boot from E: a bare unleashx loads with no menu entries (games and emulators are empty) and is useless except for the file browser. Booting from c partition results in a boot loop, even though there is an evoxdash.xbe in the root, which I'm assuming was created as an old shortcut because there are no resource files/folders and trying to load it manually results in a dash restart... This thing reminds me of the house from poltergeist - full of randomness and wormholes and shit. Dave, thank you for confirming. Is it possible that the bios is just resetting the time every time I try to set it with the dash? Edit: Oh for fuck's sake. I can't open the .log file in unleashx because q: is only present when xbmc is running. And when I try to copy the log file from q: to any other partition so I can view it in unleash, xbmc just refuses to do it. For the life of me, I can NOT find the folder that is being mounted to q:, either. My xbox is a fucking sociopath. What the CHRIST? Edit 2: i found softmod install files in udata and some evox dash files in a subfolder of 41560017. So this thing was softmodded at some point in its life. No wonder it's such a mess. Still can't find the real q: directory... Edit 3: I'm able to get UnleashX to boot if I copy the files from the slayer's 2.7 disc to, say, the root of E:. But if I try to get EvolutionX to run by copying files from the same method, it fails to load and triggers a bios default-dash restart. Does the Evox dash have to be run/setup/installed a certain way, or something? I'm able to load any other dash like Avalaunch or XBMC 3.5.3 (if run as an application from a default.xbe). EvolutionX seems to be really touchy in that respect. Ironically, I was able to get the Evox menu from OGXbox (or slayer's, I can't remember now) actual installer to run from the root of E:, but not the one from the Dashes folder of Slayers. Wow. That makes no sense to me. ----------------------------------------------------- SS_Dave's responses to my time issue: -I tested this with a X3cp with the X3 bios and yes the date gets scrambled on each boot where the X2-5035 and Ind 5004 bios didn't reset the date/time I haven't noticed it before as my Xbox's are connected to the home network and the date/time is set automatically. -I tested that with 2 different Xbox's (1.6 and 1.1) and it did the same when booting direct to the dash and not loading the X3 menu 1st and the clock gets scrambled every time but not with the X2 or Ind on the 1.1, The 1.6 gets reset to 1/1/1900 on the Evox dash and 1/1/2000 in the M$ dash every time you power cycle it. It made no difference if the clock as set via the net then unplug the network cable and power cycle then the clock was scrambled or the clock setting in the M$ dash it did the same. When I get bit more time I will test the older versions of X3 bios. My Reply: So my problem is reproducing when you mimic my setup? Glad to know it's not just me. Definitely let me know when you get some time and are able to experiment further. I appreciate it, buddy. Do you have any insight into my dashboard clusterfuck, by chance? I'd appreciate your input on that, if you don't mind.
  7. Hey there guys. I'm an og modder from the xecuter days and am looking to get back in the scene again. When I was in high school in 04, i started looking into xbox modding and discovered how awesome this console was. I was in the team-xecuter forums and a couple others I can't remember and posted frequently. I got my first xbox in december of 04 and installed an xecuter 3, an x3 control panel and a 250gb hard drive. The first time I saw the flashbios screen and flashed via http is literally one of the happiest memories of my life. I believe i used slayer's 2.4 installer. I put blue leds in the controller ports, an 80mm blue cathode ring under/around the jewel and blue leds in the clear controller dongles. It was a masterpiece and I was one stoked teenager. I modded other boxes in a similar fashion for friends and a few random people who became friends as a result. Sadly this xbox got stolen in 2008 and i never saw it again. This causes me pain to this day. I found an xecuter 3 box on ebay with a control panel and plan to make it just like my old one plus a few extra mods like the makemhz hdmi, extra ram and the 1.4ghz processor with the help of an interposer from n64freak, if he has any left. I know kekule is working on one as well as an xecuter 3 clone that i hope to help him finish and get into production over the next year or so. I've yet to meet the guy, so I may be getting ahead of myself, but I am hopeful! The xbox modding scene is one of my greatest pleasures and joys. Few things make me happier. If my plans come to fruition, I hope to become somebody in this community that everybody is familiar with and can rely on for anything. I also hope to gain some knowledge from other people here that will help me in my future endeavors. That would be pretty cool. SS Dave, you post everywhere and you are the man. N64freak, I fucking worship you and hope to be as skilled as you are pretty damn soon. Happy new year, guys.
  8. Bought this console several years ago and it's just been sitting in the dark, unloved. It's in great shape, there's a small black scratch/scuff just above the jewel. (pictured on FB) I think it's more a scuff than anything and should come off. This console has never been opened and never modded. I put the softmod files on the HDD if the buyer is interested but didn't install it. It still holds the date/time for over an hour so caps are still functional, that's all I know. Disk drive works well, video will be shared on FB of it working. We can start with $500 shipped in USA - PayPal or Venmo Goods and Services. I will be happy to ship international at cost. Best offer in the next 2 weeks or so takes it. I'm much more active on the FB group as well as I will post a lot more photos, if you have questions I will see them much faster there but I will be checking this post periodically.
  9. I recently did a softmod on a 1.6 console and installed an old IDE 320gb HDD I had from an old PC build. I tested the HDD's health first and it seems to be performing well so I cloned my exisiting Xbox HDD and installed the softmod. I've backed up around 70 games to the new HDD and while most seem to work fine I was playing Burnout and the system froze. This was during my first race. Is this a sign of a potential problem with the HDD or something else? Looking at the S.M.A.R.T information on the console i'm now seeing a few questionable readings:
  10. Hi everyone I am an Italian and I am a fan of mods and consoles
  11. Just started to collect these consoles have a few some with mods some og looking forward to chats and reading up on fixes and how to's
  12. Hi all, New member from the Netherlands. Recently booted up my modded 1.6 XBOX after more then a decade of it catching dust in the attic. Only problem I encountered was a stuck DVD drive which just needed a bit of persuasion to get working again (would not open or close). Surprisingly all my burned discs still worked after, burned them 16 years ago. My plan is to bring the xbox into the new decade with a new SSD, Fan and OGX360. For the first 2 the parts are already ordered and I plan to upgrade it this weekend. I'm still looking for a OGX360 so any tips are welcome. Coldasijs
  13. I'm having a strange issue. I flashed my TSOP with EvoX M8 plus and upgraded to a larger 120 gig IDE drive. I used FatXplorer to create a "games" folder in the F partition and moved some games over. I can see the games in UnleashX and EvolutionX dashboards, but they won't launch from the file explorer. The xbox just boots back to the dashboard. I can't launch from the games tab either. I used the same 2020 TruHexen disk that I used for my 1st xbox. The SATA drive on that xbox works fine on all my xboxes, but the IDE drive simply will not launch any games in my TSOP xbox or two other openXenium xboxes. I've used multiple 40 pin and 80 pin cables, and I've reformatted the drive multiple times. Is it possible that FatXplorer isn't functioning correctly and I need to FTP the games over? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm running into a similar issue with another SATA drive. I'll create a "games" folder in the F partition with FatXplorer, but that partition looks completely empty from file explorer. Why on earth can't I properly format two drives, load games onto them with FatXplorer, and launch games from them? I don't understand why it worked in the past and now it's not working. I need ideas.
  14. i have recently been playing xmen: legends on my hard modded xbox. this is the 1st time i have done this. i have played this game through many times and i have noticed a couple glitches that i have never seen before. this is the first time i have ever played it from the hdd on a hard modded xbox. this is also the 1st time i have ever played it through on a v1.4 xbox. most of the times in the past were on my v1.6 and once on a v1.0. both used the disc. so i'm not certain if it is that i am playing it for the 1st time from the hdd or that i'm playing from a v1.4 xbox for the 1st time. thoughts?
  15. I bought an OG xbox, softmodded it with Rocky5, upgraded the HDD to a 2TB Seagate Barricuda, have an 80 pin IDE adapter connected to it. I bought 10 games to start off with, to include Halo: CE (the original Halo) and Mechwarrior. I ripped all 10 games to my hard drive. I get horrible, unplayable lag when playing any game (Halo is the most noticeable). Any time I fire the weapon everything lags. I also notice that for every single game, the startup animations (The grey/white/black "Microsoft Game Studios" logo) also lags, so I don't think it's framerate dependent. Here's a link to the logo animation that I am talking about. The animation in this video is how it should look. It's smooth. On my screen (I can't upload a video, sorry), it stutters, lags, and is generally unsmooth. This animation isn't smooth at all, but just showing what I'm talking about for reference. Does this have something to do with HDMI? I am running the output to an hdmi adapter that plays on the monitor. I have tried multiple monitors and have the same problem. The only thing I haven't tried is the component to TV route, because I do not have a TV. I'm wondering if this was a waste of money. Games are unplayable from the HDD, which I thought was supposed to even speed things up. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. -R
  16. this happened when I just open the disc tray from the Xbox to remove the disc to provide sound for the Xbox. I did this because it was taking too long to load up again. Here's the vid: (Start at 21:00 to save time)
  17. G'day mates ! (typical aussie speak i swear) I've had a bit of a break from the OGX scene however I am back now and picking up the peices after I did what I wanted to with some old projects. Thanks to @SS_Daveive got a $20 bargain 1.4 board working again (afte I butchered an LPC build) however I want to extract an old bios file I wrote a couple of years ago on my Duo x3 chip. Whats the best tool to estract it and then edit it to see what is in it so I can modify it for this new box. As I have a strong feeling the file I wrote was for a slimeline I made with a DVD delete, however It has some colours and settings I changed that I want to use for this new OGXBox. Cheers - Dan
  18. I have an OG Xbox that no longer works, I've tried a different power supply and replaced some capacitors that were bad no luck, my friend gave me a working Xbox same model. Is it possible to swap the drive from my dead one to the "new" one and retain all the data? Also if I can't do that would it be possible to transfer the save data and games to the new system?
  19. I recently acquired and old Xbox 1.1 with a a hard drive and disk drive both dead. It came with Aladdin XT2, so i switched the old hard drive to a new 80GB one and managed to install a new dashboard using an old computer disk drive i had laying around. Everything seemed to work fine and the console booted with Unleash X, but almost all games i tried installing on it's hard drive won't work. Dashboard tries to launch them, but the console simply resets to it's main dashboard. Not all games failed thought, 4x4 Evolution 2 and AMF Extreme Bowling started and worked fine without problems, but this is more of an exception than rule. It's weird, cause all emulators worked, and i was able to play Quake 1, 2 and 3 homebrew ports with no problems at all. Can someone please help me? Thank you!
  20. Nice to see the OGXbox still receives some love from all around the world!
  21. after a very very long absence from the xbox i would like to bring it back to life and hope to find some support and news here about how things are going in the xbox scene right now. Marco
  22. Once in a while I do my routine check for XCM and Xecuter stuff on eBay. I did a check maybe a few weeks ago and there were consoles, chips and pro switches on there. Correct me if I'm wrong did everything just sell out or did eBay remove anything with "Xecuter" related to the name. Because eBay is a ghost town right now. There's just LEs on there and some scraps. Anyone get there listing removed? I know Nintendo cracked on the team so maybe other companies are following up. This would be dumb because eBay have been collecting fees on modded consoles for a long time, they would lose out on the market.
  23. So when i got this console there were some games already on the drive and I could access and play them from the dashboard. Well when I updated to xbmc4gamers they were not being detected and i could not find their location on any partition. The available space on all the drives has not changed at all so it makes me feel like they are still there somewhere. I went into dvd2xbox and found all the games there and it said they were located in drive F. But in any file explorer srive F was empty. I tried to launch the titlea from dvd2xbox but keeps bringing me back to my dashboard. Any thoughts?
  24. Hi. I am introducing myself in the forum. I am trying to bring to the life my xbox 1.6 with Tuscany power supply that looks dead, the xbox do not power on and doesn't do anything when try to power on. No measurement in the famous T2 transistor. There is no corrosion in my board and caps seems to be ok, so ... what is next to test? I would like to see the repairment guide but is not available for me at this point for newbie, so I ask you. Thank you all!
  25. Hello OG Xbox forums, I've worked myself into a pickle again. The short version: I need to get a file off of an HDD that throws an error 16 (won't boot, Corrupted dash) but still works. Can I get it off using a second Xbox and a file manager, or do I need to buy an adapter and use Xpolorer 360 to get it off? The long Version: While preparing to TSOP flash my Xbox, I was copying saves over from the had drive onto a memory card for safe keeping. However when that didn't work with the UnleashX dash I tried to switch over to the default dash. This corrupted the files and now the Xbox throws an error 16 whenever it tries to boot from the HDD. Since it is an error 16 I can't boot from disc since the Xbox preforms the time check before it checks the DVD drive, and since the Xbox was only softmoded I can't just format a new drive and throw it in. From what I've found online I can use CHIMP and my working TSOP'd Xbox to recover the dash files on this second one, however I need the EEPROM.bin file. Can I get it off using a file manager that can detect both drives using the working TSOP'd Xbox, can CHIMP find the EPROM.bin file on the slave HDD and recover from that, or do I need to purchase an IDE adapter to connect my Drive to a PC via XPLORER 360 and then transfer it over to the XBOX? Thanks.
