Retro controllers for emulators, NES, SNES, SEGA, etc.

If I had to guess, I'd say the board is an original xbox controller trimmed to fit in a snes controller case with the buttons wired up where the other buttons used to be. I think that is also what they were doing in that article you posted.- 24 replies

Most people don't realize this but plugging a device in via USB does nothing. The machine you're plugging the USB device into needs to have a piece of software that tells it how to communicate with and use the device being plugged into it. This piece of software is called a driver and it's specific to the device being plugged in. So, Xbox drivers are not the same as windows drivers and they are built into the kernel. Adding drivers IS possible but it would be difficult and require an extremely high level of expertise.- 24 replies

Yes. You can actually order the chips from a particular supplier brand new instead of desoldering first. That should make it easier. It's quite difficult though but can be done.

Welcome! Modding takes on a whole new love for the same devices. It's difficult to explain but I'm very glad you took the plunge.

Welcome! If you can just get it to read the game disk a single time you're good to go. Let us know if you need some assistance.

I'm not sure how the bios patching works... but you may lose the ability to access half of your ram by doing so. It completely depends on what gets patched. I wouldn't do it if it were me. Just extract the isos.
